Nox 600

I have never owned a Nokta but I bought a 600 right when they came out. It replaced my Explorer SE. It is a great machine to this day and is a backup to my 900. I put a 6" coil on the 600 and still use it for around trees and along sidewalks. If it is a great deal you should buy it and try it! You might put the Nokta in the closet!

I do not have the 600, but have an 800 (few more features), but have a friend that uses the 600 and he loves it.
Before that he had the Simplex, but likes the 600 much better.
Still a very capable machine in my opinion.

I had a 600 and it was a great backup machine. Just no stock wireless headset, and a few less programs than the 800/900
Funny story: I was working in Afghanistan when I got it mailed to me and I went out to the volleyball court (sand) in the middle of our base (Kandahar), after 5 minutes I dug my first signal which was a 10k small gold ring.

If this machine does not have any warranty left on it, I wouldn't buy it. The original round of the 600/800 had lots of quality issues, broken ears on coils and leaking control units. My 600 only lasted 3 years and died.
Now the upgraded 700/900 are much better. Tony has a 900 for sale at a steal of a price and condition. I would have bought it but just got 900 from a local guy.
You'll get 3 years of warranty on the newer machine and better build quality. Its worth the extra money for peace of mine.

Preference really,, anymore all machines will find just as much as the other.i know guys will say the manticore is better than the deus 2,and the deus 2 is better than the nox 800,etc..But I doubt any of the machines made in the last 6 years will out hunt one another, I've used them all and that's my perspective

I've had a 600 for about three years now. It's a great machine and not very complicated to operate. It gets great depth, at least an inch or two more than my T2+. Its my go to machine for relic hunting. If you decide to buy one also consider getting the Minelab 6"dd coil for it, you won't be disappointed.

If your finding good stuff with what your using that's all that matters. Everyone has a opinion and preference to what they like, one mans junk is another mans treasure, I think the saying goes..
If you are saltwater beach and surf detecting, I would not submerge an out of warranty Nox 600 as stated above by Donna(NJ. Check with the seller to see what kind of coil nut is on the stock 11” 600 coil. Minelab changed the coil ears to prevent so much coil ear damage. The newer 11” coil has a threaded coil ear and just a bolt with no nut.
As far as user friendly, the 600 certainly has less settings and features to deal with compared to the Legend. Both have “hidden” menus but the 600 has less to uncover and learn.
Performance wise, the Legend is demonstrably faster as far as recovery speed and has better target separation from my experience. The Legend has far more audio options like movable tone breaks, changes of pitch and changes of tone volume. It also has Pitch tones. Depth is about the same using the 11” stock coils. Ground handling of more difficult soil and sand conditions is also roughly the same. Ergonomics definitely go to the Legend along with handle vibration for water hunting. So does build quality and the quality of its waterproofing. The Legend has even more program choices than the Nox 800 since it has M1, M2, M3 Park and Field, Beach W and D and Beast modes along with its gold prospecting mode and 20 and 40 kHz, compared to the 600 with just six: Park, Field and Beach 1 and 2.
As far as all recent simultaneous multi frequency detectors having the same performance, that depends on where you are detecting. The differences are obvious in more difficult ground conditions.
I am not knocking the Equinox 600 and 800. I still own an 800 and it is my all time favorite detector, BUT it and the 600 had some substantial build quality and waterproofing issues which Minelab fixed very successfully with the Nox 700 and 900

What kind of deal did they give you? I like my 600 but I like the scale on the 700 and would be interested in a swap if the price was right.
