Old woods still produce

Active member
Was out the other day for a quick hunt, got some steps in and was able to bag a 43 Merc and some crusty wheats.

Needed some time back out there today to shake the tax man blues! 😫 Got in a 4+ hour hunt today with the Manticore and M9, decided to make a pass thru an area i have overlooked. So glad I did!! Smooth Barber quarter, Buff nickel and a Merc all within a 2 foot area. Spill maybe? No idea. Another Standing Lib from this old park, 3rd for the year, about 15 feet from the others.

Been having trouble seeing the Manticore screen lately with sun glare and polarized sun glasses. Today I gave the RNB Power-X a go, setting screen brightness to full. Battery bar didn't even flinch after 4+ hour hunt today on full brightness, still full. I highly recommend the Power-X and I like that it's easily removable to use on the Equinox 800.

I hope you are able to get out soon, get some fresh air, clear your mind, and get some steps in with this hobby we all love! Thanks, JJ

Wow! Fantastic hunt. You've sure got that Manticore dialed in.
Thanks! That's one of the things I love about the Manticore is that it's so easy to tailor to your liking. How I run it is probably a bit different than most, and I adapt it to the site im hunting.

For this site, I like All metal, no ferrous limits or discrimination. I listen to it all. I remove all forms of masking and get all the raw details up front. I still dig iron but it's always iffy at best.

Recovery speed 5, 5 region all Tones, but I adjust my tone breaks to how i like. All on an ascending scale, bin 1 is iron grunt, bin 3 (nickel range) at 25-28, set to very high tone. Bin 5 set 79-99, ascending high tone. High tones will stop you in your tracks, yet you will still hear it all and choose to dig or not.

Good day & hunt.

Yep, that is how I approach it. First, just try to get some exercise in and try to score one find which may lead to another.
Dave
It seemed like most of the day was just getting step in, ready to call it quits. Then on the way back to the truck... Thanks! JJ

Great finds!
Looks like you found a little hotspot.
Those two quarters have been carried carried quite a while before being lost….may have been a coin spill like you stated to find them in a small area.

Thank you, research has been so limited on this spot beyond the 1920's but she keeps giving up her secrets. I thought the 1880 Morgan, same amount of wear, from this area was a fluke but not so sure now. JJ
