we are having hurricane force winds around the Island today. 80-100 mph and the (big!) trees around here are falling across power lines in many places, 15,000 people without power here in the general area, hope i have enough generator fuel, don't want to go anywhere with up to 200 ft trees falling across roads and highways

storm still raising hell in some areas but power is on here now. Lots of big trees down and ferry sailings canceled. Still nasty for a day or so but looks better now, storm was fast moving.
The only damage here was a hen that got caught out in the yard and took a 100 yard ride into the swamp but came squawking back home

has been the winter from hell for just about everyone. As all this snow melts and these streams fill up, a lot of low landers are in trouble. I see Home Depot has a ton of basement water pumps, extra hoses, generators etc all stacked up out front. Just about everyone here has a basement. Come on spring...
