One of my best finds.

Was out scouting in another neighboring town when I passed an old church, Unfortunately most of the ground around the church was paved over. I did notice a driveway back on the far side of the parking lot which I figured I would explore. It led me back into the woods to a large old stone house. From what I gather it must be the church meeting house or something. It looked like the house was under renovation because the main entrance was roped off. Got out and walked around and nobody was there. Grabbed my Explorer and walked over to an old trees stump near the front of the house and gave it a try. Within the first few swings I got a high pitch upper right weak signal that was reading about 10 inches. My heart began to race as I know this sound, and with that depth I was pretty sure it was a good one. Very carefully I dug down, and sure enough at about 10 inches I saw the glint of shining "SILVER". I moved the dirt away further to find this beautiful Barber Half Dollar. (My first one) YAHOO!. This is what it's all about. Found some other Clad coins too. Got home and washed it off . Always take my camera. Here it is.

By not asking permission to hunt that site, what you did was steal that Barber half from the landowner.
It doesn't matter whether the landowner knew the coin was there or not. You took it from his property without permission.
When people do things like this, it reflects badly on all of us. Twice I have been denied permission to hunt because someone like you
was caught on a site without premission, and one of the creeps left his diggings in a mess. You set a bad example for those who read these forums.
Here is my advice......Go back to that property and find out who the landowner is. Tell them exactly what you did. Tell them you are sorry, and it will never happen again. More than likely they will give you permission to hunt there, and you might find some more goodies. Do the right thing and help all of us look good....

John Did do the wrong thing by not getting permission, and this kind of thing can ruin it for the rest of us. But, He is better off either, not going back to this site, and never do it again....or go back there and not mention he found something already, and ask for permission to see if he gets permission, and if he does, he really didn't steal the Barber cause he would have got permission anyway, or if he is denied permission, he will have to live with the guilty feelings, but don't go telling them that he did hunt without permission and found a Barber half, cause that will be a bad thing for the detectors as a group. He didn't get caught so what is wrong if he doesn't do it again and learned from this....Just my opinion.....

I just got back from that house and I did speak to the people there renivating it. When I found someone who spoke English and told him what I was doing he stated that a group including himself bought the house to fix it up and resell it. When I asked him if it was alright to metal detect the property he laughed and said go ahead. You are right I put the cart before the horse. Sorry it I offended anyone. By the way I found a Barber dime 1910.

God was watching you John. Now put the Barbers in his hand and be a good boy.
