Operating the F75 2 at Reduced Senitivity

Coin Rescue Inc

Well-known member
This weekend I found that at a sensitivity setting of 25 the F75 works just fine in De process with zero Discrimination. In my local dirt the ground balance varies from 62 to 70.
I can run it hotter but I think I pick up other signals from small trash in the soil. Coin size targets come in loud and clear.
Dug up 18 assorted coins in a couple of hours.
This was using my new 10x5 elliptical coil.
Thoughts on this anyone?

Many people get cranked up if they can't run MAX sensitivity, but in most cases HOTTER is not always better.

I found the same thing this weekend Coin rescue. My magic number seemed to be sens of 29. It really helps cut out some falsing and blips from micro targets like foil flakes and such. I'm using the stock 11" DD. I am still digging coins at 6 inches, and I'm sure it will go deeper than that at low sensitivty. Just no deeper coins around the area I was hunting. I was running disc of 20 though. I'll try zero disc next time. What tone setting were you using?

Thanks for your help on my thread "dumbing down the F75" . Manually upping the GB seemed to settle it down a bit too.

Great I will try that. I had mine hot at 90 and it was going nuts. My soil is mild but it was a trashy area.

It's like the aperture (sensitivity) and shutter speed (process) settings on a camera. Twisting everything to maximum does not give you the best image for conditions.

Though my experience has only been with the LTD prior model LESS IS MORE !!!

40 45 sense was hitting 6 to 8 inch coins easily with the 11" DD coil.... My only real complaint with the LTD is/was it loved to hit older deep pull tabs as a coin reading at 8 or so inches.
Nothing I changed in settings stopped it from nailing those older pull off type ( 60's) tabs...

For tones I used 3H allot because I am used to it. Seems II pay less attention to the number and use my ears more till I get a high tone.
I did run 2L allot too and like it although it forces you to look at the ID numbers more. Then in some trash areas I used 1n for speed run thru in FA.
I want to try DP soon like Mudd does on the F70.

I guess me posting another chart is not a big surprise, but I thought if I could run a test on a couple of the processors I use most may help. I was looking the deepest numbers I could get just what effect sensitivity has on depth. So being I done this testing I was inside the house I picked the little 6.5" elliptical, so I would not pick up a lot of EMI.

Hope this help,

It looks like the sweet spot could be between 85-90?

Looks like 40 is sweet spot good depth both processes but nice low sensitivity. What I would like to see is at what sensitivity does the small stuff start to fall off. I want bb sized stuff to be less then an inch maybe less then 1/2 inch. This would help at trashy sites with lots of surface junk.

Well as I see it hunting small jewelry is a little on the specialty side. So to do what you ask I had to make a change to the JE processor, and I used the small gold ear ring I found the other day as a target. It is pretty small I can say I picked it up from 0 to 99 and the only difference was the distance off the coil. Sensitivity at 99 was about 3" and 0 was about 2" off the coil.

Now with all that said I will add that I haven't found a coil that will detect small jewelry better than the 6.5" elliptical. I have tested it on small gold with 2 different F75's with the 11"DD, NEL sharpshooter, 5"DD and the 6.5 always comes out ahead.

Here is a little more info on my gold testing when I was trying to figure out which is the best coil. Also another picture of the test items used.
