Well I tried to get out over the weekend...but my headcold won't go away...and it can't decide whether or not to stay in my head or go to my chest...or just annoy both parts at the SAME freakin' time.:cool:
Anyway...I didn't get out until this morning but at least I got to hunt all day.:smoke: I met up with K.P. (silverfix) at one of the parks he hunts ..and there are still some hits left...but most of the stuff is mixed in with trash....and it is all in the 8" to 10" depth range.
After only 45 minutes...his boss called and asked him to fill in for someone...so I was left to hunt alone. He managed a roosey and a wheatie in that short time.
I kept on pluggin' along after he left and had gotten a couple of wheaties...and a rabies tag from 9" down...when I came upon a section full of iron. The SE started to null on me..so I slowed to a near standstill...and just crept the coil along. After 15 minutes or so I got a nice high pitched warble through the silence..and it was deep. I dug a nice 8" plug then ran the probe...and it sang. I dug a little clod out ...and was pleasantly surprised to see TWO shiny little critters in the clod:bouncy:...both roosies. A nice little silver spill from 8" which was great...but it also made me realize that if the roosies were at 8"...then the older goodies were going to be deeper.:super:
After creeping through the iron patch..I made it into some cleaner ground towards an old concrete foundation of some type. I hunted here for close to 2 hours and popped out 2 mercs an injun...and a few wheaties. Both mercs were in heavy trash and gave goofy sounding hits...but there was a higher warble mixed in. Upon closer investigation...and a quick few "wiggles" over the pinpointed spot...the warble repeated...and sounded much better over both targets.:clapping:
Also hiding in the trash was a broken sterling silver bracelet. Funny thing about it ...is that it looks like someone actually cut it in half. Maybe a disgruntled girlfriend or boyfriend? I hunted all over this area looking for the other half.. but found nothing.
Towards the end of the day I hunted along the outer edges of the park...and that's where I got the best find.
It was a deep, warbly chirp that would have definately been missed if I wasn't creeping. When I paused and investigated it though...it repeated almost all the way around. It was faint...repeated...and the depth meter was bare...yippee.
After digging a 9" plug and still hearing the probe sing...I plucked out a clod another inch down. I then crumbled the clod and out popped the Barber dime. I could tell it was sweet because I could see nice details on the wreath of the reverse. I didn't touch it though until I got home...where I rinsed it with warm water. A shiny, detailed 1902 O Barber dime with FULL liberty emerged from the mucky water.:clapping:
I ended up with 2 Roosies...2 mercs...the sweet Barber...2 injuns...some wheaties...and half a bracelet.:yo:
Thanks for sharing this with me...and good luck popping some more deepies out before the ground freezes.

Glad your cold didn't keep you down for another whopping great hunt. That Barber is sweet looking and very nice. The others aren't to shabby either. Getting 2 in a hole is better " than boot in the butt with a frozen mukluk" or so the saying goes. You really have that machine zeroed in on Indians and the silver count for the year is going to be unreal. Congratulations again on your finds and may you get a couple of more in this year as it isn't over yet but getting close
HH John

The Barber Dime has to be all of VF-20 and books around $32.00. If you can see the outline of the Headband, then she might be EF-40 and worth $65.00. Either way you look at it though, you got yourself a SWEET find to add to you ever growing collection buddy! :clapping:

Also, I really like that Half Bracelet you found. It looks pretty old with the design on it. Maybe someone you know found the other half....either that or it's still out in that Park waiting for your next return hunt. It sure would be something if you could find the other half.

Congrats on all the other great finds. Looks like a very productive day for Silver and a couple more Injuns. Continued Success, Good Luck and HH to you.

Gorgeous Barber Bryce and the rest are not too bad either.

I started to feel a little better this morning. Of course then I went hunting out in the cold temps and winds all day today...so who knows what I'll feel like when I wake up tomorrow:bouncy:

WOW!!!! I'm really happy for ya Bryce. Looks like the patience paid off on this hunt It also sounds like you have a challenging place to pull silver.

I have a park I'm focusing on right now that sounds just as tricky. A couple of weeks ago on my first hunt to the park, I only had about 30 min to do a test run and walked over to the largest tree in the park; turned my SE on and the minute I put my coil to the ground I got a super silver signal. First thought it was just an initial falsing, but it repeated from different directions. I went ahead and dug a plug and out popped a 1906 Barber Dime!!! 15 minutes later I added a nice wheatie and '38 Merc. You can imagine how high my hopes must have been for my next visit. Well, I spent all day last Sunday and only pulled six wheats. You wouldn't believe how many memorials I dug at 6" that sounded like a dime and some even quarters!!! My next plan of attack is to use my 5" Sunray and I have a nice feeling that I can pull at least a couple silvers.

Thanks for sharing the story and photos. Love to see silver coming up through all the trash. Got to love Iron Mask on the Minelabs. Good luck on the next hunt Bryce!!!

looking for the other stinkin' half of that bracelet:super:..but it never showed up:cry:
I bet somebody already snatched up the other half...but you never know...so I'll give it another lookover the nest time I make it back to that park.
I'm thrilled with that Barber..usually the ones I dig are pretty worn...but I got lucky on this one.
Take care my friend...and I hope the ground freeze holds out for all of us.

buttocks just might knock that nasty cold out of my body:crylol:
I was a little better this morning...but then spent the day out in the wind and weather again:bouncy:...Oh well....I couldn't take it any more...I needed to hunt.
Take care buddy...and good luck on your next hunt.

thing popping out some sweet goodies on a short visit. I then returned with MORE time...and HIGH hopes...only to dig a few wheaties...few pieces of wire...and no silver:detecting:
I also feel your pain on those stinkin 6" to 7" memorial cents:bouncy::ranting:. I dug a couple of those today...along with an 8" deep clad quarter that had my mouth watering until it came out of the hole:rofl:
Take care buddy...and good luck on your next hunt.

Very nice finds Bryce and that barber dime is a beaut for sure:clapping: Get the detecting in while you can buddy as we know the cold stuff is on it's way. Good luck on your next outing and I hope to have to things to post after this coming weekend. HH.
