What pattern do most of you use for coins? A stock pattern or a more open custom pattern.

I almost always use a slightly expanded version of the stock RELIC pattern.

If I am detecting a "hunted out" park or site I always use Ferrous/2-tone because it, along with the modified relic pattern unmasks targets like nothing else i've ever seen. I have to rely on the conductive number though. Another reason I use 2-tone when I use Ferrous sounds is because it almost completely eliminates falsing. 4 tones or multi falses like crazy in my experience.

If I am hunting a schoolyard or a place that is not "hunted out" I usually switch over to conductive/multi but I still like to use the same modified relic pattern. However sometimes I will also null 49-50 conductive and 01-02 ferrous and disc back in the numbers (can't remember on the fly) where a silver dollar hits in the 01-02 ferrous line... mid 20s IIRC.

I never hunt with no disc. I am a believer that the E-TRAC unmasks better with a little disc, as in the relic pattern, or the bottom few ferrous lines nulled. I think using Ferrous/2-tone is a waste of time if you also have an open screen... I think you will miss heavily masked targets by hunting this way.

I almost never use the "coins" pattern... it has way too much nulled for my taste. If I am clad hunting I may use it some.

I just know what works for me but I agree with Andy that the ET needs a little disc if you want it to reach its full capacity to unmask targets.
