X-1 probe (Sunray) nothing compares.

I use the Sunray and I really like it. I think I'd also be happy with the pro-pointer. Where I think the Sunray helps is being able to zero in on the exact signal you were hearing before you opened up you plug.
Regardless which one, get a pinpointer. It'll save you a lot of frustration!!!!

Most people that have the Sun Ray probes say their the best - and I believe them.
I really like my Garrett Pro - Pointer for a few reasons ...
(1) The Sun-Ray adds 11 oz. - to an already heavy machine
(2) The Pro Pointer has it's own battery supply - no draw on the E-Trac's. battery.
(3) The Pro Pointer is not hard wired / attached to the machine - you can run around with it - rock walls, inside old houses, etc.
(3) And most important thing ... I usually locate 3 to 6 targets at a time when I hunt - mark each target with a yellow plastic tent stake - put the E-Trac in a safe place - and return to the targets with the pin pointer in one hand and my digger in the other. You don't have to keep taking off your headsets - putting the detector down and picking it back up all day long.
From what I've found - hunting this way really saves a lot of time!

Garrett Pro Pointer..... No cords, independent power supply for longer hunts, vibrates as well as sound, so still lets you keep headphones on. And with a couple tie wraps, it can be carried on your machine, just like the SunRay!

Now I know what to do with my extra holster that I have for the Pro-Pointer. Forgot to send it in to Garret when mine had a bug.

I had the Sunray probe for my F75 and DFX and after going as long as humanly possible, I ordered one for the Etrac that should be here this week. I have had a Garrett Pro Pointer and loved it although I thought it lacked a little in sensitivity. The Detector Pistol Probe was enormous and I couldn't hear it with my headphones on. If I didn't have a Sunray probe, the Garrett would still be my first choice.

My recommendation would be the X-1 probe. I have them on three other detectors. Now saying that I have a friend that switched from the X-1 to the Garrett Pro and he loves it. He knows his stuff so I know the Garrett Pro is a good one. Don't think you can go wrong with either one.

I am pro Propointer. I used a sunray probe back when I had my GTI2500 and god damn it was annoying. Only after I started using my new Propointer this year, I realize that all those Cords and extra weight is pointless!
BTW I do not use headphones... can't stand them!! Besides, how else can I hear what's going on around me?

I am not a big fan of headphones either - I love my Sony rubber ear buds - Not many use the ear buds - they are very comfortable. They are durable rubber, and take lots of abuse. Step on em, sit on em, get em wet, dirty, they keep going. Stick em in your ears, and those deep faint sounds tickle your brain. Plus much more comfortable in warm weather. A high end pair along with 1/8 x 1/4 adapter is about $50. Never went back to headphones after using the ear buds.

Very good idea. "carrying it on your machine". The E Trac is so light the little weight of the Garrett would be no biggie.
I got a rotator cuff injury on my right shoulder from lifting the pro pointer in and out of it's holster so many times.
