Se going deep...silver...

DFX-Gregg

Well-known member
Well its been a while since I posted anything...thought todays hunt would be a good time to drop a post. I have been finding a lot of stuff...especially wheaties. Today the usual $4-$5 in clad but a standing liberty quarter, either a 1920, or 1930...can only make out the zero at end and another wheatie. I have been hunting alot, but this year I am enjoying sitting back and reading others finds, good for motivation. Obviously the Se has taken over for me...but the dfx does mop up every once in a while...still like having both around..

I have yet to find one this year but I am sure I will get one soon. Good to hear that your finding lots of good finds. Keep it up! Good Luck and HH.:detecting:

Great finds ! I have never found one of those. HH

WTG, Greg!

How deep was it? Iffy?

That SLQ should be a 1920 if you can see a zero. IIRC, the same design was used from '17 to '24 and they changed it so the dates wouldn't wear off beginning in '25.

Nice quarter Gregg.Ya the dates on these went fast. A friend of mine gave me a bunch of them that were in great shape but for the fact that they had no dates.GR

It was approximately 8 inches...came out in a clump and was crusty... I was a little disappointed not to see a date...thanks for the info on the date...the signal was clear... I was using deep on, digital, 8" ML coil, reading bounced between 00-28, 00-29.

Wish I was finding one quarter what you are finding! Oh well...still alot of clad for me...but some nice surprises mixed in...still having trouble with jewelry on se...

Too many different Karats of Gold, different sizes, shapes, you name it, it makes it tough for any Detector to know what you are about to dig and that's why if you dig a lot of Junk, eventually you will be Rewarded. Silver Jewelery will sound like Coins though, and some Gold will read like a Zinc Penny, Indian Head or like a Nickel. Just keep Pluggin' away and you may just find a nice Jewelery Item you would have passed up without even knowing. Continued Success, Good Luck and HH DFX-Gregg!

Nice hunting. There's a;ways room for more than onr machine dfx gregg.

Gregg, I am so happy for you! Isn't it great to find one of those Liberty quarters?! I rarely find them but when I do It always brings a huge grin to my face.

Can you share your special top secret settings with us?

Tony

I was running sens in manual at 24, deep on, iron mask was off at the time. Had threshold set to just barely audible, gain at 8, digital screen, response normal, sound conduct, that was it.

So true Charles...........I almost passed on a 6" deep 44 quarter yesterday as a can because it was hitting so hard. (Almost)

That is a 1920 Gregg, the date was recessed on the 30. Nice find.

A couple other people mentioned to me its a 1920... Will hit area on Sunday again.... Kids had their baseball/softball today...

hi Gregg i just got an exp II 3 days ago and doing heaps of reeding. i found an interesting article in one of my Australian MD mags called finding gold in the pull-tab jungle the bloke detected for pull tabs for two weeks and mapped out where all the tabs fell on the digital scale ( fe vs cond ) then tested 200 bits of gold jewelery and mapped them to. the result was interesting some gold hits at places pull tab don't. most tabs fall from fe 08 and stop at fe 10 and most gold falls from fe 07 to fe 11 with some going up to fe 14 so there are some areas on the digital where gold falls and pull tabs don't
hear is some gold numbers without pull tabs for all you lazy people like me
fe 07 con 13 , con 22 , con24 , con 25
fe 09 con 10
fe 10 con 07
fe 11 con 00 to con 06 and con 12
fe 12 con 00
fe 13 con 00
fe 14 con 00
fe 18 con 01
the bloke got a card laminated with these numbers on so he could check while detecting.
i hope to use this to get some gold at local parks without having to dig to much junk. i don't know where all the can slaw falls. so this might make it easyer to find more gold and less junk. i hope this helps someone somewhere. have a good one
