Second Seated In A Week

Sooper Dave

Well-known member
Well I haven't posted on the forum in a while. I have been going out and making a few finds so I will add in some pics from the last few weeks. About two weeks ago I looked around an old house lot and found a few Mercs and some CW lead. Last week I went out with my buddy Micah and we hunted at an old house that only turned up one old Wheatie. We had trouble getting permission to hunt and ended up at an old school. We looked around the back for a bit but wasn't finding much. Just about the time we had to leave I got a deep wheat signal and dug down to see a very thin silver coin. I thought I might have a Barber and was excited to see it was my first Seated Dime! Two days ago I got permission to hunt a lot that had an old house on it but it burned down years ago. The place is full of iron and I could only find targets on the edges of the yard. I found two Mercs a V Nickel & a nice 1887 Indian Head. Also found a WWI Veteran's Victory Star Pin and some bullets. Well we got some heavy rain last night and this morning but it cleared out nice by the afternoon, so I went back for a quick hunt. I wasn't there long and got a nice signal along the back edge of the yard. It rang in like a deep Indian but was so surprised when I saw the tiny Half Dime in the hole! This is my second Half Dime and still can't believe I found it! HH David

Sweat finds, Seated ladies ... well I wont make the joke. what is that token ? looks cool too.

Hey thanks! I totally forgot to tell about that coin. It is a WWII German Nazi 50 ReichsPfenning coin. I thought it was a tax token when I first saw it. It's made from aluminum not silver.

Congrats on the seated coins! That half dime is great. Your persistence really paid off.

Outstanding finds Dave - good job !

Congratulations on your first seated....and also your second. You had some great hunts. Thanks for the pictures and the story Dave.

great job!! WHAT DO MOST OF YOUR INDIANS ID IN YOUR AREA?

Thanks! Indians around here come in at 7-36 thru 12-36. They can also bounce down to 7-34 etc. a A good solid 9-36 with depth is usually an Indian. Both Half Dimes I dug came in around 10-34 to 11-34. And I was expecting Indians.
