Found this 43 Walker laying on top of the grass while hunting a sports field. Looked like it was dropped the other day? Maybe someone lost their good luck coin or a kid got into dads collection? Has this ever happened to any of you?

I never found a big silver laying on top of dirt or sand but I did find a silver round in the water at a beach. Figured it was someone's lucky piece.
I also found a 1878 Morgan dollar just off the boardwalk, again someone's lucky piece.

As I always said, timing is everything in this hobby !!!!

WTG on the Walker. Beautiful coin !!!

I found a silver dime laying on top of the ground in a yard several years ago.
The house was vacant, but the yard was kept mowed….i figured someone had it in their pocket and simply lost it while doing yard work.
Probably had no idea they even had a silver coin in their pocket.
I also found a clad Eisenhower dollar laying on top of the ground at an elementary school a couple years ago….the only one I have ever found.

I actually hit it with my coil and flung it about a foot before I saw it. Decided I won't use it in my silver count for the year. Technically I did find it but didn't dig it up, gladly take it tho

Must have been a recent drop.
I remember finding a clean, spotless Buffalo Nickel near a kids playground at an old park. It was in the ground, but not deep right next to one of those kids, push Merry-Go-Rounds. It was when I first started out detecting. That was before I found out Nickels in the ground tend to turn reddish.
My cohorts did not believe I dug it because of it's fine condition. Maybe thought I faked it. They shunned me after that.
Why it was in such good shape? Maybe a recent drop too.

Lucky find congrats! After a day of detecting I was frustrated having been totally skunked. On my way home I stopped at a sub shop to get some eats. When I was paying I eyeballed a Morgan next to the register. The girl said someone paid using it. I asked her if I could swap it for a dollar bill and she said sure!
