Silvery Hunt Sunday

I got into a farm house yard, super nice owners. I dug the SLQ first at about an inch by a huge tree. Then next was the Barber and Canadian (1900) dimes. What a great start - only three passes. I ended up with some wheats and clad but the good finds sort of dried up. Oh, I found a junk jewelry pin and a tiny, but heavy, Buda. Pictured is some sort of stopper or bottle cap? It has a rubber washer attached to other side. Is this an old pop bottle cap? It says Boston AJ Tower Co. Any ideas?

The owner came out after a short time and gave me four big coins from Mexico! He said I should take them since he keeps them in a box and never does anything with them. What a nice guy. It was super weather and great fun to get out and dig.

Nice finds - especially the SLQ and that Canadian dime. Love that stuff. I did a quick Google search and found a forum that said AJ Tower was a Boston company(1904-1930s) that made heavy raincoats. Maybe this is a button or snap from one of these raincoats. That's great the owners were so nice too. HH

Nice start indeed BF.:clapping: Got to be more stuff there for you. What a nice guy to let you detect at his place and then to give you some coins to boot. Good luck on your return to this place. HH.

Great stuff, silver is always nice and you have a fine bunch there.

You must be kidding, but if not... most of the guys have heard my lament, so please just read my comments under the post a little ways down "Trading in for an SE Pro"
Thanks - Robin

Thanks TD,
I did the same search for that whatzit. The one raincoat I saw for sale looked like it had buttons similar to this one (too small to tell for sure). It does make sense that a raincoat would have a rubber washer to help keep dry. I put it in my button collection!
Take care and HH - Robin
