Smallest U.S. coin

Went hunting the old Stagecoach stop yesterday. I was hunting for about thirty minutes when I got a hit at seven inches. The TID was showing a 12-10 12-12. I was thinking cool, a V nickel. After pulling he plug and doing a quick search, I finally got it in my hand. I swiped the soil away, and saw gold. My first gold coin. A 1852 $1.00 gold piece. It weighs in just over 1.6 grams.I thought that the three cent silver I found last year was small. But this one takes the cake.

Congrats on the $1 gold coin!......It's really nice ......For a gold coin I just keep telling myself "Someday!"

Ouch! Very, very nice!!

Awesome find!

Great find!

Super find, it is amazing when you see the actual size of them how small they are. Thanks for the TID numbers, I was always curious what they would come in as.... I found one earlier this year BUT it was mounted in a ring and I didn't want to destroy the ring by removing the coin.
Once again, congrats on the gold dollar coin.

Seated Half Dime is 15.5mm this dollar coin is 13mm so it is smaller than a Half Dime

what mode were you detecting in? because that can change the TID's... I wonder if the size matters?(keep it clean :) would a 2 1/2 dollar gold coin come in at the same TID or would it be different? or a 5 dollar gold coin? has anyone found any other gold coins to compare TID's.
Thanks
