Some E-Trac gold

I don't see that much gold posted so I thought I'd post some of the gold I've found so far.

Wow! Quantity!!!! Can you remember any of the readings, please? 12? Does gold bounce as a reading? You paid for your machine yet?

Most of it read a FE of from 10 to 21 and CO from 02(chains) to 012 on the bigger rings. The pendent read a CO of 32. Oh I'm sure I've paid for my E-Trac just in gold. I have about 45gr 10k and 38gr 14k. What I really like is that the E-Trac gets the deep gold my other detectors don't even see. I got a jumpy, but solid, signal in a tot lot that was deep. I dug down roughly 9-10" in wood chips to find a nice 14k 22"(6.9gr) chain in the mud missed by many detectors.

Very nice!! You do extremly well on the gold with the E-Trac :) . Thats great depth on a Gold chain ! I think I rember the post when u found it. Thx for the pics.cant wait to see your Next addition to your Gold collection :) HH

Thanks for the pictures. That is an impressive array of gold. Appreciate it. I'll bet you dug a lot of junk to get that too...

Southwind,

Wow thats awesome ...golden even.
Have you weighed it all up for a total grams ?
Congratulations

No beaches in southwest Kansas. These are all from schools or parks. Most are tot lot finds. I've sold some and returned one class ring some I'm not sure just how many grams I've found with the E-Trac. I bought a E-Trac last fall but hunted mostly old coins which I found more in a few months than I had all year with my other detector(DFX). I had to sell my E-Trac to pay taxes at the first of the year. I bought this E-Trac at the end of March. Most E-Trac users are old coin hunters but in my area part of the season is limited to tot lots. I just wanted to show that while we mostly see hands full of old coins being found with the E-Trac, it also makes a heck of a gold machine if you choose.

Most all of this gold was found with the E-Trac since March.

Great job finding all that gold Southwind !

A question ...
After digging all this gold - and with such a large spread of target ID numbers - can you tell if your digging a piece of gold by the tone - rather than say ... foil or an aluminum pop top ?
Just wanted to ask - because I can usually tell if I'm digging a "solid" coin hit because it's not "scratchy"sounding.

We just don't dig enough gold to get use to the little differences in a gold or junk target ( say like a -12-07 or a 12-11, etc. ) - just wanted to know if you hear any difference in a these targets with the same numbers - like most of us can tell with coins ?

Thanks --- Mark

Yes there is a sign but of course it isn't 100% accurate. What I have noticed is that gold will, in most cases, have a repeatable set on numbers. Much like coins do. Most trash will have a much wider spread in the CO numbers. The exception is can slaw that can also give good solid tight numbers.

Like you i have found gold and even Platinum with my machine. I'm hunting dry/wet saltwater sand. I noticed too that the jewelry hits more solid "even at depth" than aluminum. I think its because the trash corrodes and the gold doesn't.

I'm interested in how you have your machine set up. What kind of pattern, tones and settings your using?

I use a pretty open pattern of accepting all CO's and only rejecting FE 26 and higher. I run with sensitivity in auto +3, response = normal, number of tones = multi, variability = 30, tone sounds = Conduct, Deep = ON, Fast = ON, Trash = High, Ground Neutral.

Got a bit more gold this weekend. The 14k necklace was a very nice find. It weighs 8 grams and worth about $174. I got a solid CO of 12 and when I looked down I could see small parts of the chain sparkling in the sand. I knew the chain would not have read a CO of 12 and was sure it must still have the pendent on it somewhere, and it did. A pretty good sized one at that. The other 14k pendent was small but hit very solid with very little jump on the numbers. Typical of gold.

Nice finds!

Interesting that your running with all the filters on. I know the deep setting helps with the chains. I have found some very small earrings that would fall through the scoop. I had always thought that running all the filters on skews the performance of the ET. In your case it doesn't look like it. Nice job!

I run with sensitivity in auto +3, response = normal, number of tones = multi but playing with 4 tone, variability = 30, tone sounds = Conduct, Deep = ON, Fast = OFF, Trash = Low, Ground Neutral.
I switch between an open pattern and a jewelry only pattern. Ive dug pull tabs at a depth of 12+ in the wet sand. Most rings are 10-11 inches.

Next time i get out I'm going to bring a gold band tied to some fishing line. This way i can experiment a little with the settings, tones at different depths.

every now and then I'll dig a pull tab below the tot lot chips or sand. This tells me I'm getting depth out of the E-Trac none of my other detectors could get. I also recover many of those 1/8" metal sequins which tells me I'm not going to be missing much.

southwind have you ever worked etrac with two tone ferrous settings and have you ever found a chain on its own as their is a discussion on this forum at the moment that the etrac is not picking up gold necklaces and i have done this test myself and the etrac did not see it i would like you to comment please as it will be interesting to see what you think

i have just remembered back to when i tested my gold necklace my necklace was not just links but every other link was a solid but thin tiny ingot and the etrac NEVER make a sound butttttt neither did the garrett pro pointer thats when i began to think the necklace although stamped was a fake??????????????????????????????????????????????????

My god! What havent you found?:clapping:

Thats strange,I just recently got my ETrac.A few days after I had it,my brother wanted to see if it would signal off on his test nugget he has glued to a poker chip.It was no big nugget,a couple grains at the most.I ran the ETrac over it in a wide open quickmask and the detector would pick it up.I had to be very close to the poker chip on the ground and I cant say that I remember trying to see the FE or CO numbers, but it could definately be heard.I'll have to try it again in a wide open smart find mode.
