Some silver...injuns...and an UGLY 14K GOLD ring:rolleyes:

This is the post of my finds from last weekend that I was in the middle of typing up on the morning of Wednesday the 15th...when I got a phone call from Deepenedge. He wanted to go hit some pounded parks that morning...so I didn't finish last weekends post until now. I came home wednesday with the 5 injuns...seated...barber...and silver 3 pence...so I put this post on hold until now.
Anyway..here's last weekend's post...I met up with a couple of forum members a few days ago and we hunted two days in a row at a couple different parks. We spent about 3 1/2 hours on each day in each park.
The first day...we met at one I frequent often but there are still some spots that produce. What you find there can depend on many things...the amount of interference in the air...the amount of recent rain....how long it's been since the grass was mowed...pedestrian traffic that day...etc.
One of the guys had hunted the park before..but one hadn't...so we decided to hit one of the spots I don't hunt much. There always seems to be quite a few people frequenting this area so I just haven't spent much time there.
We all did quite well there and they are great guys to hunt with. No one cared who found it or who didn't... We just called each other over to listen when one of us would hit a target.
I ended up with the 3 silver roosey's and most of the wheaties here because it isn't a super old park.

We then went to a park where a few weeks ago I found some older injuns. I want to find another "fatty" injun before the season's end...but all I am coming up with are pulltabs. I was bound and determined to pop one out today...but as Larry-IL reminded me a few weeks ago...they mostly hit way down low on the screen. Well....I'm too lazy for those type of hits:biggrin:...and truthfully don't have the time to try them all:rolleyes:...but today I did:clap:. All I can say is THANK YOU Larry-IL...cause I didn't get a fatty...but I did get a nice but UGLY solid ladies 14k gold dome style ring.:super: It looks like a pyramid...and is UGLY:stars:..but is IS 14k and weighs 12.6 grams... so I can't complain.:beers: I showed it in the center of the pulltab pile pic...and then again by itself. What a shocker to see gold in the hole...and by complete accident. I never dig low hits looking for jewelry...I was doing it only because I was chasing an older nickle content indian head cent.:drinking:
Another one of my favorite finds of the weekend was the nasty injun that is bent all out of whack. The scan doesn't show it well but it looks like a washboard and has two or 3 bends in it.
You talk about a weird sounding hit. It sounded like a memorial cent...then the tone changed to an indian head type hit...then jumped back up to memorial hit. I thought it was going to be a crusty injun because the depth meter was buried....so I didn't think it was a memorial cent...but the thought a a little piece of wire entered into my mind too:smoke:. Well after getting down to 9"...out popped the corroded nasty injun. :bouncy:
All in all a fun relaxed hunt with a couple of good guys and we all found stuff. Darrell was using his pro coil...silverfix was using the 1050 coil (after I pried my 10 x 14 off of his machine:bouncy:...he didn't want to give it back:biggrin:.....and I was using my 10 x 12 S.E.F. coil.I learned a few things from them and hopefully I was able to show them some interesting tips too.
Silverfix... ended up with 3 silver...and Darrell ended up with 3 or 4 silver ...of which he may send me a pic so I can resize and post for him. I ended up with 7 silver...3 injuns....21 wheaties....a heavy UGLY 14k ring...and a pig (dated 1938 on the back).
This coming week I plan on going to the park that has given me a ton of OLD injuns over the last 6 weeks or so. I'm hoping to pull a few more out..but you never know. Hope everyone is enjoying the weather and getting some hunts in before the winter months arrive.

WOW Bryce, Excellent Post ....Huge Congrats on the ring find . I enjoy all your posts , this

Terri

Nice finds, I am glad to see you posted all the pull tabs as I thought I was always doing something wrong when it said it was silver and it was a darned pull tab. Now in the picture of all the pull tabs that looks like a gold ring, is it the same ugly one or another? Its the one packed with a nice dirt filling. Way to go!!

Congrats Bryce. You are an injun finding machine. I hope we get to hunt together soon.

Keep up the great work.

Way too cool Bryce..........Congratulations.

it sounds like an injun:bouncy: and I find it by accident. I just simply don't have the time...knees...or patience to dig all low hits. I do take a chance on one every now and then...but my main thing is looking for silver and injuns.

Thanks Edgewood. It's the same ugly ring. Looks a lot different setting there on edge in the middle of the tab pile...than when I tried to scan a pic of it from the side. Either way...it's UGLY:biggrin:

Thanks Terri. The pig is heavy and the back is dated. It also says "I love pigs" on the back. Not sure what the heck it actually is..but if it was made to attach to keys..or as some kind of fob...it would be too heavy to carry:detecting:

Nice digs Bryce! You're always doing well, man. One of these weekends, I need to head up your way, and try to get my groove back. . .

I am hoping to head your way one more time before the weather gets too cold. Man at a couple of those places it's nice to have a few people along to hunt with. Heck you never know how safe it will be.

Never seen ugly gold before, still haven't, i love it in any shape or form,:wiggle: nice finds as allways:thumbup:

I've been good man. I had to work every weekend this past summer (which is why I didn't hunt any), but I've done some traveling, and managed to have a good time doing everything but digging. I'll have to try to make up for lost time for the rest of the year.

Let me know when you're heading this way, and if I'm in town, we'll definitely head somewhere.

Mark
