Suggestions on Air travel with Excall?

I'll be heading to the Philippines next year, I am interested in hearing what is said here Crenman

Always checked this luggage, Maybe 20 times to Florida..No problems ...couple towels or a few more cloths over this and she is ready.......

I use an airline approved case for golf clubs that I did a mod on to hold 2 detectors, So far has worked for me.

Fantastic!!!!
Thanks for the feedback. I will have to opt for the checked luggage this trip.
I really like the golf club case idea for 2 detectors. I will have to rig that up when i get back.

Thanks again for your input. This will be a no cost trip for me so anything i find is 100% profit.... and great scenery.
I will post my finds when i get back.

Thanks again & HH

I usually put the coil, battery and control in my carry on and scoop shaft and everything else in my checked baggage. Good idea to throw in your manual just in case there is any questions. Good luck and HH :minelab:

Just returned from England. I have a Safari and I just broke it down, removed the batteries, and packed it along with my pinpointer probe (minus batteries) and all my gear. I also put in my paperwork i.e. invoices for the detector and probe, manuals etc;. to show I had purchased it and I was serious about detecting. I packed clothes around everything for cushioning and there was absolutely no problems and they did not search my cases. By the way, when they search your case, they put a paper inside stating that immigration searched it. You should not have any problems!

I just returned from Mexico. For the last two years I had my Excal and Sov. control box in my carry-on. Two years ago coming out of Mexico they made me move it to my checked bags. I highly recommend to transport in carry-on bags. There is no problem with our own TSA....take your batteries and put them in your checked bags.

I usually go the Cayman Islands each year. I put my control/coil/battery in my carry on bag and all my other gear in a checked bag. I always keep a copy of my user manual with the detector. I have never had an issue with TSA or customs.
