Life isn't easy digging for relics. I much prefer the wet/dry sand
the beaches have to offer. The tree roots, poison ivy and bugs
make relic hunting where I live a 2 month venture at best.
Pictured are updated photos of relics found in a swampy area since mid January.
I found out the hard way that ants build their nests on the dry edges
of swamps. I was on my knees probing for a find when they attacked.
They got inside my clothing...50 to 70 bites later I was still looking for more
relics. I stayed 2 more hours because my male ego wouldn't let those ants
run me out of the swamp.
Anyway, the 2 shells together pose a mystery. The one on right is part of a Hotchkiss
but the one with the semi hollow top and brass ring..no idea.
There are 3 pics of the other mystery. Any ideas?
My puss filled ant bites and I thank you!
