Target ID numbers?

WoofWoof

New member
Hey all- Just got my new F75 SE Monday & am trying to learn all I can. One thing that would help is a complete target ID list with approximate target numbers. Such as aluminium 40-65, copper 58-73, etc. A chart form of this would be terrific, but I can't find the complete info. Any help?

OBJECT TARGET I.D.
Most iron objects 4-12
foil from gum wrapper 16-25
U.S. nickel (5

Guess I should have been clearer on my question: I saw that list in the manual but wanted something more complete: what is the range of iron, lead, etc. In other words a list from 1-99 with probable targets for each value.

You will not have any time to metal detect working on a list like that, the list of materials, sizes and shape is endless and when that list is done then you would need your kids and grand kids to take over the project of a list of combinations like one BB in a hole with one penny, then 2 BBs and one penny tilted at 46 and one degrees.

Not trying to be a smart ellic, just trying to say you will waste forever and a few days on a endless list when what was sent to you and what is in the manual is enough to get an idea of what the machine is telling you.

I carry a few samples with me to test but hardly ever use them.

Try to not get caught up in your list,

This book should be in your personal library.

The book is by Robert Brockett, and is called, "Taking A Closer Look At Metal Detector Discrimination".

It will answer many of your questions around discrimination, target ranges, etc. This is one of the first metal detector books I bought and I still pull my copy out every so often for reference or to re-read as a refresher. It is written around the Whites 0-99 scale but it is easy to convert to any detectors TID scale.

I had forgotten about that book.. Wasn't thinking 0 100 meter..But Your right.. it even has many pictures of things found in each area of the scale..

I may have been wrong, and should not have posted the response I did.. Many people want to know expectations in each range of detecting...

Some like to pick and choose their targets..or at least the most likely what it could be target.....

HI Elton,
If you had any idea of the number of posts I write and delete before hitting the send button you would probably recommend I see a mental heath professional.

I am married to a therapist and find it more helpful to just go MDing. Did that come out right???
At least she doesn't read MD Forums.

WoofWoof you need to really appreciate what these guy's are trying to do for you. Example: I just got back from a CW site I hunt and one of the 3 ringers I found was bouncing from 6 to 84 and going from iron to silver on top. Sometimes you have to get POed and find out what is down there. Good luck and be patient. HH :fisher::minelab::teknetics:

Tones.......over target ID....always!!!! As your learning, focus on those nice solid 'thump' tones, that repeat as your circling the target while sweeping it. As your experience increases so will your ability to discern 'tone' nuances vd ID numbers, that will help you make dig/not dig decisions. As noted by previous (heavily experienced) posters, there is almost an unlimited number of variables that can cause variations in a detectors ID numbers.
FOCUS on the TONES.
