The Cat..........

Kelley (Texas)

New member
This is a picture of an old stray cat that showed up at our house about six years ago. We gave him a free meal and he never left.

I was testing an old Minolta MD Tele Rokkor-X 135mm F3.5 lens attached to my Sony A300 DSLR camera when I took this picture. This old lens was made in the 1970's during the peak years of the film cameras. You have to use an adapter to mount this lens to the camera, and everything is manually controlled while using the lens. I used F5.6, 1/50, ISO 100, and used the Histogram as an aid for proper exposure. Kelley (Texas) :)

Nice looking cat Kelley. Is the cat still alive and coming by? Was it good tempered with people? HH and GL

He comes around twice a day for a meal, morning and evening. Once is a while he does not show up for his meals and we worry, but the next day he shows up again. He is not very social, lets up pet him, but no one else can get near him. We had a couple of neighbors that were mean and cruel to him at first until I talked to them, asking them to cut the old cat some slack because he was not bothering anyone, just wanted a meal. I do not know anything about his background other than he must have been dumped by someone. He is old, half blind and half deaf. One of these days, he will not show up and will be gone...that will be a sad day! Kelley (Texas) :)

Its definitely a cute cat Kelley. Great that you are feeding it, and told the neighbors to leave it alone.

At the university that I attend there are a number of stray cats that prowl the campus looking for meals. In particular, there is one cat that is sort of the campus mascot, or at least the building it hangs around at sees it as one. Anyone that attends or teaches classes in the building knows of the cat, and many, including me, try to pet it. So far, I have had no luck in doing so, even though some on campus can pet her whenever they want to. :)

The truly interesting thing about this cat is that it is missing an eye. Some time ago one of its eyes got infected, and one of the professors took it to the vet to get it taken care of. Since then she has been back on campus and doing fine, given that she is given cat nip daily. :)

I will have to take a photo or two of it when classes begin at the end of the month. HH and GL
