The Depth Dilemma

n/t

That's very disturbing!

:)

Whose face is morphed with the dogs?

eric,i have found only three half dimes in my many days.each from a different sight--now watch this.each coin was in the first inch of soil.when it sounds good,,dig,dig,dig:minelab::usaflag::csflag:

I've dug Large coppers as shallow as 1 to 2 inches and many smaller coins the same.

I agree and concur....I have always said.....it all depends on the site your at....dig everything first to get to know the site ...then make your decisions after....

Go to the learn mode and beginning with a completely black screen and the large cursor, lighten up just the right hand corner of the screen. This mask out basically everything but the silver.. Then dig all repeatable signals at all depths! I use this for hunted out parks and trashy parks and fairgrounds when my time is limited. It works really well.

I always dig no matter what as long as it registers as a good target. I love clads and the 9 silver eagles on the left on the photo is the result of 3 weeks of clad finding. I cash the clads in for silver eagles. Been doing that for many years. I've got a collection of SIlver Eagles that would knock your eyes out and all from finding clads.

I have a system. I first hit an area with a White's Eagle Spectrum with a Bigfoot coil. I clean up all the clads that are up to 6 inches deep and I can do that pretty quickly. The Spectrum with the Bigfoot really works well up to about 6 inches. The combo sweeps 18 inches with every swing. I dig every coin because I know they pay for the Silver Eagles.

I then take the Explorer SE and re swing the area I feel will be productive for older coins knowing that whatever I hit will be deep and probably not a clad.

The Explorer is an awesome machine but it is slow on the swing. But if I know the area I am working is either very old or hit very hard by other detectorists, I know that the Spectrum/Bigfoot combo is still going to work because I can hit almost every square inch really quick. Most folks can't or won't spend the time swinging the large areas needed to snag all the clads. And the Explorer will hit all the other targets that any other machine will not even register that are deeper. That allows me to take my time with the Explorer and concentrate more on finding the deep ones in select areas that I feel will be productive.

Don't talk down the clads folks.........they are worth getting and add up quickly. About 90% of my clads are found with the Spectrum and the rest are deep and found with the Explorer.

BTW...two gold rings, a gold falcon pendant and a silver ring all at over 10 inches with the Explorer. Three standing liberty quarters found with the Spectrum and one Morgan silver dollar also with the Spectrum. Everything else found with the Explorer SE. Found in a city square park and an old school this last weekend. I also have $53.00 in clads from that hunt that will go to buying more Silver Eagles. Love those clads !!!!!!!!!!
