Got a break from calving and the weather and put in a short hunt tonight. I was digging period parts and pieces for the most of the hunt when I got a funny mixed signal and pulled my first civil war eagle coat button for the evening. Hoovering around the area produced #2. Finished out the evening with a 1867 variety 2 shield nickel. The buttons were 12 feet apart and condition is day and night.

Nice Buddy. I love the buttons. No four holers to be found

WTG, Jeff! Always love finding those CW buttons..........just shows you that the Veterans wore their uniforms everyday after they got back from the war! Most were too poor to not do that.
You have found many of those through the years..............all due to your very extensive research! You are the Research King!!
Looking forward to detecting with you again in the Spring! You definitely need to get up to my place & find some Fur Trade silver before the crops go in.............

I always like finding civil war bUttons. I have found some tastes ones before and just a few feet away found a decent one to. I’m still waiting for one with gilt on it though. Congratulations

Nice recoveries buddy! 👍Good to see you gave yourself a break from calving. Any frost left in the ground down that way? HH Randy

For the temps we have had -10 just a few days ago there was no frost. this was on sod, bean fields are probably another story.
