They should make a metal detector game for the wii.

That is on of the most interesting posts out there. What a concept. Beginners could figure out how to detect correctly, seasoned users can maintain their edge. Somebody needs to call NINTENDO ASAP. I would buy it in a heartbeat as long as it emulated the EXPLORER.

Ya, Just think of the possibilities.
You walk up to the virtual 1800's house to ask permission and depending on what you say determines if you detect or not.
You're in a park and you ask an old timer about the history and he tells you about another park that had a fair ground when he was a kid.
Your finds add up to points.
You can use your points to upgrade equipment,or buy things like a trip down under.

That is a cool idea.

It would be fun for us but I don't think it would have enough appeal by itself outside our limited niche. On the other hand, it could be a very nice mini-game inside another game. For instance, one of the games my kids liked let characters either fish or dig for fossils. It could fit very well in that sense.

The implementation on the Wii could be interesting though, including a warning sound if you lifted your coil too high on the ends of the sweep.

You could select a level where you only dig for gold and silver coins... no nails or pulltabs... Or a level for beach hunting after the sand is washed out by a storm leaving gold rings laying everywhere - with a "ching" sound for everyone you pick up.... kinda like Mario Bros.
