Hunted for a while today in a empty lot next to a church where there used to be a couple of houses. Was using the 12X15 SEF got what i thought was going to be a deep silver coin and this is what came to light. It dont have the .925 silver mark but iam sure its silver. thanks for looking. AL

It looks like a Columbian Exposition World's Fair (Chicago ) thimble. Don't know if I'm allowed to post a link, so I will say, just Google Columbian Exposition Thimble and see a bunch of them (You can also click "Images" to get more pics. Nice find!!

I've seen one before but never found one, and I've hunted the property where the 1892 Columbian Expo was held many times!

That "9" is most likely the thimble size. Look on the inside, it might be a very faint stamp, but I bet its marked somewhere. I have found silver thimbles before, but that one is really nice!

Jason i looked it over realy good with a 10x loupe(spelling ???) and could'nt find any marks on it . One of the site's i looked it up on said it was heavy silver plated . It's in realy good shape except for the ding's on the rim. I don't think i put them there but i could have. here is a pic of the bottom side.

Odd that its not marked at all. Those nicks in the base don't look like silver plating. Either way, its still a great find!
