Third time a charm with XS

Larry (IL)

Well-known member
The first time out produced Silver, the second time a bust and the third time out with the XS and my new 6" Excelerator produces a dandy. She is abused, but still a seated  A 1963 Rosy and three wheat's sweetened the pot too.

NICE SEATED LARRY, THE XS AND EXCELERATER IS A KILLER COMBO NICE JOB :clapping:....PHIL :minelab:

Great finds Larry. I havent had the chance to use my SE in a park area yet. Right now im in the desert at Quartzsite, AZ gold hunting. Even with the standard coil this thing did pick up a nugget a little bigger than rice with the standard coil. I didnt like the popping in AM so i ran at -31 and turned down the threshold this seemed to really work well.

Check out the one I found last week. It's REAL ugly but we can both be happy with just having a dime that old!

I don't feel so bad, after seeing yours Neil :yikes: , but you are right..............they are still Seated finds.

The Seated was about 5", the Rosy about 2". the wheat's were from 2" to 6". My deepest find today was a memorial at 8". I couldn't believe it wen I saw what it was Gregg. I think there was some fill dirt in there once upon a time.

Them Seated Coins are great to find, in any condition. I'd be very happy with that one even in that condition. Nice digs. More proof that the Explorer's find the items the user is after. Continued Success, Good Luck, and HH.

GOOD JOB :super: now just wait till you reach your first hundred times out...you should have so much stuff ya couldnt post it all:thumbup:

Sounds like I'm going to have to break down and finally buy the Explorer, huh Larry? I've been putting it off forever. Is it worth it? Desmond from Brooklyn

I m glad you are liking your XS ,minelabs seem to sniff out those old coins.I didnt belive it till I tryed it.Good luck on your next hunt.:smoke:

Yes and no Des. The XS won't replace my DFX, but it is a good clean-up machine for getting into the iron infestation and getting a little more depth, especially in the mineralized ground that I have. I have to force myself to hunt at a snails pace with the XS and my arm kills me after a couple of hours with the XS too. For the kind of hunting I do, I much prefer to sacrifice a little depth and work the yards much faster with the DFX. I can hunt a yard maybe 10 times faster and come back later with the XS to ferret out the stubborn ones. Everybody's hunting styles and needs are different, so this is what works for me. If you just hunt old deep targets, I'd say yes, the Explorer is the way to go. Hunting virgin sites, I prefer a faster/lighter machine.

Sounds about right. I'm moving this spring to Buffalo ny, and their are tons of virgin sites there, Here, in Broolyn ny, the Mine Lab on these pounded sites I have seen work miracles. Des

My XS has worked miracles for me too Des. I'm really impressed with the way it handles the iron and still picks up the silver tones. The Silver dimes weren't deep, but they were masked with iron and the DFX and MXT that we hunted with there before, just didn't see them. This is the same yard Nancy and I plucked about a dozen silvers from and this is where I found my 1804 English Dollar last year. I really wanted to go over it again with the XS to see what was missed. I'll hit it again a few times before I give up on it.

Good luck n Buffalo Des, there is some pretty countryside up there.

I would say Larry if the silver is there you will find it with the XS....it loves silver.....Glad you did so well.....Congrats! :minelab:
