I returned to the scene of yesterdays hunt and while targets weren't plentiful, I did get a silver. I had felt for some time that it was just a matter of time before one of my hunting buddies or myself dug a Seated coin from this site and this morning I got one, a 1840o dime. That is my oldest silver coin. Quite frankly, there wasn't much about the signal, vdi or tone(s) wise that was all that great, but it was just enough tone wise to trigger me to dig in light of that I knew it was deep and the area has the history and age to yield old coins. When I hit it, I got a high tone tic mixed with the occasional mid tone and readings from 67 to 88. From two directions, though, I was getting the high tone tic, so finally decided to dig it. As close as I can tell, it was all of 9." I was using a Wilcox 15" long digger with a 6" x 2" blade and the digger was at the 8" mark I had notched on the handle when I began probing with the Pro pin pointer. The scratches on the coin weren't done by me as when the pin pointer signaled the targets was in the center of the hole and I dug the rest of the dirt out by hand and the dirt was hard and packed and at least an inch more deep. Besides the clad and other targets, got 2 wheat cents, a 49 and a 16d. Swinging the F 75 LTD with 11dd coil and running in bp mode, disc 0, sen 85, 3h tones and gb of 64. HH jim tn
