ordered today.. Predator tools Piranha 35. Tried digging today with other options and nothing would get below a half of an inch down. Hope this will solve the problem...

You're right that should do it, just don't cut your foot off that thing looks wicked

Nice looking Shovel !

Every Winter I grind a very sharp point on my Lesche digger - this really makes it easier to get through frozen ground.

Also, try to hunt sites in the woods in Winter - places with a lot of leaves almost never freeze solid.

That is a nice digger. I met him at DIV and looked over all of his very well made tools.

I guess I should be thankful that our ground rarely if ever really freezes. The top half inch might freeze if we get a really cold night.

Based on input from our metal detecting clubs past president, I just made myself a relic digger by modifying a 5" trenching shovel (look at Lowes, $27). I cut the fiberglass handle down first (capped it with rubber coating for coating tool handles), then made a 4" flat at the tip that is sharpened. It works well in the sandy soils of central South Carolina. I will find out how well it works in clay this weekend when our club has a hunt at a Civil War site in Chester county South Carolina.

Maybe I will get lucky and have something nice to post!
