I managed to get permission to hunt a lot where a 1903 house and 1905 barn were just demolished. New owner had no objection to me trying and didn’t care if I dug big ugly holes cuz its going to get scraped and developed into new home lots. Good this get any better?
Jkline and I hit right at 0500 hrs, 63 degrees!!! Gonna come home loaded with silver I can just smell it!! 2:30 hrs and Jeff had two memorial pennies and I had 0. House actually went down a couple years ago but the lower section was flattened along with the barn and old garage this last two weeks.
I did recover part of either a cast or pressed metal toy car. I can see enough detail to see it resembles like a Model T car and still has the original green color. I also recovered a shotgun case head that was screaming quarter but it actually ended up kinda being silver in a way.
It took some scrubbing when I got home but I finally was able to see the imprint on the face, CCC and Mandan. Thats a new one for me……..Looked it up and had a pleasant surprise, it was only made from 1890 to 1892 so this becomes my oldest shotgun case head to date recovered!!
Not gold but definitely just about silver in my eyes!!

Don't forget my WA state tax token, Ronstar!

FYI-- these tax tokens are a running gag/joke with us-- a 'you've got to be shitting me' find. In our soil, they are always toast.

We almost have enough to start our own currency and maybe even our own casino….

That's a nice shotshell head. I keep all my old ones too & look them up on that same collector site. They are fun to dig, help date site activity & let me know I'm not missing coins.

As JCR said, it helps to date the site and give ya a little bit of confidence that you’re not missing all the coins. It doesn’t mean they were shot during the production year but again we know the house was built 1903 and a nearby homesite was 1890s. That house was one of the founding city fathers so who knows, maybe he shot it but we will never know.

Interesting...I usually toss these shell heads. But for some reason I decided to keep this last one i found on my last hunt in a new place.. Glad I did! It gave me a little insight on possible time period activity in area. Enough incentive to go back. Wasn't from that, the hunt would have been complete failure. I'll be keeping and researching these from now on. Thanks for this post!

Jeff and I went back to this property this morning and hunted out around the parameter of the house and lawn. We didnt find anything earth shattering but I managed to pull up another shotgun case head! (Unable to get clear photo so just posting screen shot of the item, 12 ga)
