Made an out of town trip to a city about 60 miles away today, dug a bunch of coins, this Kennedy half & a 14 k ring. Still a little hot out but not too bad.

Congrats Steve on the Kennedy Half and the gold ring.....your mystery object might be a plumb weight for chalk lines or for dangling over a map to find the X where the treasure is hidden? Try it because with your blessings from God, ya just might find the right spot for detecting and digging!  Ma Betty

there's no way to hold it on a line or anything. It must screw into something else. I dug this in an elementary school play area, steve

I thought a plumb bob also. Strange thing to find in a playground!! It must be one of those pointed metal objects we have been warned not to play with?

Nice ring , kind of looks like an eye staring out of it.

I think you have the soldering tip on a large soldering iron. Not a little one used for electronics but a larger one used for plumbing and electrical use. They burn up from a lot of use and are replaceable by unscrewing the old one and screwing in a new one into the heating element as needed.

Congrats on the nice finds.......:clapping:

Hi Larry - It's half an inch in diameter, very small point. It does have the looks of a soldering tip but it's not copper, looks like - dont know what kind of metal. Steve

stake from one of the swing sets or slides and it looks to be made of nickel ok. I try. !!!! PEACE:RONB :heh:

me an advertisement for a soldring tip. While I filed a groove and no copper showed - - i do believe it's one. Steve

Steve, isn't it amazing that your mystery item looks a lot like a pencil? I find it a bit comical that it was found at a school play ground. None the less, you did well my friend. Congratulations!

that sticks out so if the kids try to play on it they got stabbed!!! Teaches those elementary kids a lesson!!

Nice half and ring! Don't know what the other item is.

not a soldering tip!!!! i do that for a living and ive never seen one like that! looks like a pencil and may just be a novelty item.
scubadetectors answer is pretty funny,............ my sick sense of humor!!!!!!!!!
steve, do you get the rings in the woodchips or just outside of the play areas????????
