Trying to fathom this " Ferrous to Conductive " thing

I just switched from EXPII to the E-Trac. Only used Ferrous to here the differneces between silver and lower tone metals. I still cannot figure out why the E-Trac wouldn't act the same in Ferrous? Don't the 2 machines see the same Ferrous content? Can someone bring this home for me... please. Thanx, Mike

You could ask Bryce - he's the moderator of the Explorer forum - he owns an E-Trac and Explorer.

Using ferrous tones, you could hunt like that if you black out every conductive number lower than the silver range. Otherwise you are going to get the same tone for silver, copper, aluminum, brass, lead, foil, etc, etc.

If you are hunting something like a field where you aren't going to have a ton zinc coated nails, can-slaw and pulltbabs. For parks and yards, conductive sounds is often a better choice.

The FE and CO numbers are arbitrary and don't "mean" anything except relative to the other numbers. With the E-Trac they swapped the axis and smoothed the Explorer's vertical S-curve into a straight line (12 FE). So, it's a different animal.

if you go to page two and read the posts on not sold on two tone ferrous that will give you a little insight on different peoples opinion personally i only like to hunt in ferrous mode digging every thing that gives a high tone it suits my ears but the beauty of the etrac is that it can be altered to suit each individual and also land conditions hope that helps if you put it in relic mode that will put you in 2 tone ferrous just go out and hunt and see how you get on happy hunting
