Then got a sweet...but really weird high hit that gobbled like a turkey yet it seemed to have a screw cap hit mixed in with it. The cursor absolutely locked on silver so I dug. Down about 7" out popped the 1939 merc. When I ran the sunray probe in the hole again...BINGO...another silver hit. Dug down another 1" or so and out pops the sweet 1956 quarter AND another screwcap. I think this was my first multiple silver hole this year.
About 20 minutes later I got the 1910s wheatie at 8" and man was it a strong hit.
Plugged along for another few minutes then hit the goofy messed up love token that says "Gerald LNVES Doris"..well obviously Gerald had some problems spelling the word "love"...so Doris probably chucked it...where it sat for 30 or 40 years until I found it at 8" down.
As for the 14K band...I would love to be able to say how proud I am for digging 200 pulltabs and finally finding the band...but it was nothing but luck because I do not have the time...patience...or knees to dig tab/nickle hits. I got a nice but differing tone wheatie hit so I figured it was a wheatie in with trash. I got down 7" and popped out the wheatie...then again ran the probe around the hole. Off to the side of the hole I got a nickle hit which explained why the sound varied on the initial hit. Well I popped out the supposed nickle but it turned out to be the 14k band!!...so there was absolutely NO skill involved on my part...I was merely digging the wheatie hit and got ridiculously lucky with the band. Thanks for viewing and good luck hunting.
