Tuesday 2 hour hunt gave me 2 silvers...2 more Injuns...a semi key 1910s wheatie...AND a 14K band:wiggle:

:wiggle:Well it was back to the exact same pounded to death site I have hunted the last 4 or 5 outings. I have pulled 8 injuns out of there the last 2 hunts...well now make that 10 injuns. I wish the scan would have been better of the 1897 as it's probably the nicest injun I've ever dug. It's absolutey beautiful under a magnifying glass and every single line is as clear as it gets. It was in the hole WITH a screwcap at 8"...I kid you not.
Then got a sweet...but really weird high hit that gobbled like a turkey yet it seemed to have a screw cap hit mixed in with it. The cursor absolutely locked on silver so I dug. Down about 7" out popped the 1939 merc. When I ran the sunray probe in the hole again...BINGO...another silver hit. Dug down another 1" or so and out pops the sweet 1956 quarter AND another screwcap. I think this was my first multiple silver hole this year.
About 20 minutes later I got the 1910s wheatie at 8" and man was it a strong hit.
Plugged along for another few minutes then hit the goofy messed up love token that says "Gerald LNVES Doris"..well obviously Gerald had some problems spelling the word "love"...so Doris probably chucked it...where it sat for 30 or 40 years until I found it at 8" down.
As for the 14K band...I would love to be able to say how proud I am for digging 200 pulltabs and finally finding the band...but it was nothing but luck because I do not have the time...patience...or knees to dig tab/nickle hits. I got a nice but differing tone wheatie hit so I figured it was a wheatie in with trash. I got down 7" and popped out the wheatie...then again ran the probe around the hole. Off to the side of the hole I got a nickle hit which explained why the sound varied on the initial hit. Well I popped out the supposed nickle but it turned out to be the 14k band!!...so there was absolutely NO skill involved on my part...I was merely digging the wheatie hit and got ridiculously lucky with the band. Thanks for viewing and good luck hunting.

VERY NICE FINDS...................

Now that is too cool.......I would never dream of finding a gold ring while digging old coins up....its too risky of trying to find gold rings in dirt....:pulltab: :pulltab: :pulltab: :pulltab: :pulltab: :pulltab: :pulltab: :pulltab: :pulltab: ETC..............lucky dog! :beers:

Bryce, congrats on the nice finds. A good way to spend a Tuesday. My 6" Excelerator arrived yesterday so I'm hoping to start seeing some of those lovely IHs myself.

Good luck and happy hunting

I must say that site of yours is LOADED! Them sites are tons of fun. I hope you have been Patterning this site so you don't miss much. But then again, a site is never Truely Worlked Out now is it! Congrat's on that 1910-s Wheatie. I've been looking for one of them also but not lucky enough to find one yet. Continued Success, Good Luck and HH.:detecting:

patterning went out the window about 20 years ago:lol:
Anymore it's just a thrill to find a spot where the grass is less than 8" and I have learned to dig the hits that used to not sound good to me. It's been fun now that I know the machine a little better.

I don't ever dig those lower hits...unless I am at a place where there just simply are no high hits left and I'm begging.

This lot is the first site of SIU till they moved it across the RR tracks. It was a 3 story old school and built a new one in the 1930s.and just bulldozed it down.We will get together sometime !!! Hang in their brother and maybe they wont start building on the lot anytime soon.

almost 18 years and have still not found that coin. I think this forum is great and I hope to start learning some things here. I have an EXplorer 2 so I hope I can start putting some of everyone's tips to use.Do you think the Explorer 2 is as deep as the SE?

your Explorer 2 will go just as deep as the rest. Just PM me if you need to. There are tons of great tips on this forum whether you hunt in conductive or ferrous. I hunt in conductive and can direct you to some who helped me. If you hunt in ferrous...I can direct to those gurus as well.

That park is really something eh Bryce !

Good hunting;
nice to have a gold ring in there too.

I figured sooner or later it would stop giving goodies up. Well so far I've figured wrong because there's still a lot of mixed mid/high hits left. That means more injuns and deep silver in my book:detecting:
I just keep plugging away with my coil arsenal and the settings changes I made a few weeks back...and stuff keeps coming out. I never get to go on a normal hunt like many people do. All my hunts are in the short 2 hour range...3 at best...but at least I'm out there swingin'. I wish I could go for 4 to 6 hours but time/work just doesn't allow it.
