Tuesday/Wednesday hunt gave me 7 More injuns...a Barber...more silver

I'm hooked...what else can I say? I will be absolutely stir crazy when the ground freezes and I'm cooped up inside. Detecting has helped me through some tough times this year...and I am squeezing in every hour I can until the weather shuts me down
I blew off 2 afternoon training appointments at the YMCA on Tuesday:bouncy:...and had 1/2 the day off on Wednesday...so I hit 2 more out of town parks.

I spent the whole day Tuesday...exactly where I was all day Sunday....the same park that gave up a seated dime and some other goodies. This time I hit a couple of different areas...and got some deep old injuns right off the bat. Then...just like always....I wandered around for some time before getting amy more hits....and I mean a long time.

Finally after an hour or so...I got a hit right in the middle of a dead null. It was like the old days hunting with my CZ70pro and not having a threshold....silence for about 10 seconds...then a sweet "warbly" hit right through the silence.:smoke: It wasn't even an iffy hit... just a high pitched but faint warble right through the silence... in a very narrow window. I dug down right at 10" and popped out the 1911D Barber dime. If I wasn't absolutely creeping through this section..and I mean creeping...no way the SE would have sounded off while nulling. Do I think it's best to hunt in a null....no...but I feel I can still find deep silver even if the SE is nulling if I'm going slow enough. It's always best to have a slight threshold...but silver will still scream through regardless...depending on where the iron mask is set at....and if you are creeping....at least it does for me.

I then continued the return pass of the area I gridded off...and picked up 3 more injuns. The amazing beauty you see pictured in the upper left is my second 1865 Injun in about a month.:super: This one is pretty nasty too...but it does have a readable date.:wiggle: I almost walked over it...but it sounded just close enough that I decided to dig it. I honestly thought it was a little piece of wire from the sound...but I had dug the other injuns less than 30 feet away. It sounded like a rotted zincoln...but the depth was showing about 9". At a different angle...the cursor bounced straight left:thumbup:...and the sound was a little more like that of a pulltab. It also didn't repeat from all angles...but it pinpointed well...so I figured what the heck. It ended up being right at 9"..and was at an angle off to the side of the hole. I guess it was angled enough to make the sound a little odd...and it is obviously corroded badly. Regardless...it's an 1865...and it's all mine.:lmfao:

About 30 minutes later I moved over 5 feet for the return pass. I didn't take 5 steps before getting a very sweet tone...the kind that I just don't get often...nice and clear:thumbup:...NO iffy to it...just a screamer with the cursor pegged top right. I even checked the digital and it read 00/29...and the depth meter was buried. I got excited and dug the deep plug. I was thinking Barber quarter...seated quarter...heck...ANY silver quarter will be great. Ran the probe at 11"...and still screaming...yippee. Dug one more clod out...and from nearly 13" down...out popped a nice "purty" blue freakin' SCREWCAP.  What a letdown! Well I had obviously moved over just enough that I was in some fill dirt...so I moved to a different area. Funny thing was that a buddy of mine...and I won't mention any names:bouncy:....dug a nice "purty" purple one from right at 12" down just 2 days before.:beers: Inbetween where he found his...and I found mine....is where I had just pulled all the injuns and the Barber dime:shrug: I guess they just scattered the fill dirt in different spots.:veryangry:

On Wednesday I only had a few hours...so I hit a park a little closer. It is nowhere near as old...and the coins showed it. In about 3 hours I did manage the Roosey ...2 mercs...and a few wheaties...and that was fine by me. I don't care if I find anything....it's all about the fun...and the peace it brings me when the headphones are on.:yo: I also don't care about the age of coins because they greatly vary from site to site. Sure the old seated and barbers are sweet...but Silver is Silver...regardless of age.

After hunting all day Tuesday...and 3 hours on Wednesday...I ended up with 4 Silvers...some wheaties...and 7 more Injuns. The silver is as follows...1911D Barber dime...1944 and 1945 mercs...and the Roosey. The injuns are as follows...1865...1883...1888...1889...1893...1899...1902

This weekend...I'm going to try and hit a park that has coughed up some real oldies before. I'm hoping that it will stop raining on Sunday...and the ground will be nice and moist for the SE and SEF coil. Thanks for viewing and good luck on your future hunts.

OMG Bryce, 7 more Injuns :yikes: , Now that does it , Im moving north
Seriously , Fantastic hunting , I can only dream of finds like those, WOW, one

nice coins Bruce. I just came back from 3 hours worth, nothing but modern coins. My day will come for the silver. I'm getting better and better every day. What do you get for readins on the IH with Digital? I don;t use smartfind. Are they about the same as Lincolns, 07-27?

Very nice finds again Bryce.:clapping: You definitely have the knack of sniffing out those injuns. What's your secret? My detecting buddy kicks my butt when it comes to wheaties, but I'm slowly catching on. Good luck on your next outing and the rain we are getting here as well should help sniff out some goodies. HH.

Man O Man I think you and James have the old Mojo really going for yourselves. Your Indian ratio to silver is fantastic and the Greenies keep popping up for you. I'm starting to think that most of the coins ever minted never made it across the Rockies as they were lost or passed out to people on the East side of them. Enjoy your posts and hope to read many more of them on your great outings and fantastic finds.
Congratulations to you, John

I gotta get out more. The light is going and the snow's a comin.BURR. Good luck to you and ya I gotta hit the Y myself.GR

really concentrating on injun hits. Every now and then those injun hits turn out to be little pieces of wire:crylol:

the response. I'm glad you enjoy my posts. "I'm starting to think that most of the coins ever minted never made it across the Rockies as they were lost or passed out to people on the East side of them"....Now that's funny:crylol:
As for the sweet slq you found....I got a kick out of the way you described how you were cussing and mumbling to yourself...:crylol:
Seriously though...what you said "it isn't about the money"......I agree 100%. YOU found it...and it's NICE:thumbup:

I have really been working hard at finding old injuns. I just try and learn the unique sound they make and pay close attention to what the cursor does. I have really been tuned into their hits recently. As for the "secret"....I am have just been lucky enough for my coil to pass over them. I think I'm just a lucky feller'. Take care Eddie. I hope you dig some more goodies before the snow takes over.

hunt in smartfind because I like to see what the movement of the cursor is telling me. I'm sure James could tell you where they hit in digital...but I think it's 25 conduct..
As for your hunts....you're right...don't worry about it...the silver and old coins will come. If you're out there swingin' the coil and having fun..while learning the machine at the same time.....that's a successfull hunt in my book buddy. Take care King...and good luck on your next hunt.

very lucky this year with the amount of old unjuns I've popped out. I'm hopin' to pop out a few more as long as the nasty weather stays away. Take care Terri...and keep in touch:thumbup: It's always nice to hear from you:thumbup:

"Bryce, I would KILL for a hunting spot like that. WATCH OUT!"...:bouncy:
Actually it's not a "spot"...it's just many different beat up old parks that I go to. Some days are awesome...and some days I wander around just begging for a stinkin' pulltab hit so I have something to dig.:super: It isn't worth killing me over...trust me:smoke: :detecting:

Good to see you have so many good sites to visit in your area. WTG with all them Injuns! All but 1 were in the 1800's....I just LOVE them kinds of hunts!!! I'm hoping to get out and try the SEF 12x15 I borrowed from a forum member I met on Sunday Morning but will have to see since some winter weather has shown up. My hunting season could be over!:throw::cry: Well, I'm still gonna give it a try anyways since I have the week off and I got a New, Sharp Lesche just in case I need it. Congrats on all them Keepers Bryce Man and Good Luck and HH on your next hunts you get in.

hunt today...but I walked outside and brrrrrrr:detecting: It isn't that it's TOO cold...but it's just such a drastic change in less than 48 hours. Kind of shocked my system. Maybe tomorrow:crylol:

Thanks my friend. I hope you get to squeeze in a few more hunts too. I took 3 steps outside today with the SE...then quickly put my buttocks into REVERSE...and marched right back inside:crylol: What a putz I was today:laugh:....but I just got used to the 70 degree temps we had all last week. I'll get out tomorrow regardless of how cold it is:thumbup: Good luck on your next outing my friend. I hope you get to put that new Lesche to use before the ground freezes on you.
