Tuesday after work I detected around an old school built in the 30's but it's not used as a school today. I spent about an hour close to the school with no luck at all. It sits on a small hill with a field down below it and looks perfect for the kids to have run down to play. So I shifted the last part of my hunt to down in the field and it worked. As soon as I walked down I got a great signal and dug out a nice Merc. The signals are spread out but there is not hardly any trash to get through which is nice. I spent another hour here and ended up with 3 Mercs, a War Nickel, a Buffalo and a handful of wheats. So I went right back to the field yesterday after work. This first hour I had dug a few wheaties and 3 Buffalos. I was digging another nickel signal and pulled a gold ring but the bottom is missing, I'm pretty sure it's real and may even be a class ring. Later on I had an iffy signal and was expecting another deep wheatie but was surprised to see a Barber Quarter in the hole and happy to see the O mint mark on the back. It must have been on edge to give such a weird signal. I finished out the hunt with another Buffalo and Merc. Turned out to be a great place after I found where to look.
