I have been detecting now for about 5 weeks. I have been going out quite frequently. Every hunt has turned up something..lots of clad, some sort of "whats it". The last few days, I have been pulling nothing but pull tabs, bottle caps, and maybe a few clad.
It's enough to frustrate the heck out of me. Have any of you had a big dry spell, where you couldn't find a good target to save your life?

Hunt for the fun of hunting and not so much what you find, when you least expect it, something nice will be in your hole. If you are digging tabs and trash you are on the right course for a gold ring, it is just a matter of time. Also keep in mind that metal detectors have been around for 60 years and public parks have been hunted hard over the years. Private property is the key to finding nice finds in abundance and researching property where there were once activity will pay off big time if you discover someplace that no one else has. Old fairgrounds, picnic grounds from the turn of the century and the like are prime pickings.
