I just heard from someone in Elizabethtown , Kentucky, Ground in unfrozen there......wildherre

Try a little test digging - go in an area where the grass is taller and bent over a little - ground on the wet side helps a lot - or in the woods where there is a good amount of leafs.
It's been down a little below zero here some nights - usually around 15 degrees for a long time now and I've been hunting a few times a week all winter and have very little problems digging in these spots. Just don't try to dig in areas that are bare ground or have real short grass - you'll sprain your wrist trying to dig a hole ! The snow also seems to help keep many of the sites I've hunted recently from freezing solid - just when it gets to deep - over 6" - it's hard to swing.
