After soaking in olive oil for for 48 hours I still have no date. The strike was so close to the edge and the edge is so ragged that there is no room for the date. In my last post I said that I thought it was a Georgivs/Britannia.After soaking and cleaning it turns out to be a Connecticut Copper with the words Auctori Connec and the king facing left.I've included a couple of pics that show what it would look like were it in better shape. It was found on my first outing with the new SE 11" coil.GR

You guys back east findin all that neat old stuff!!!-----The only way I get those REALLY old coins is by buying them with my clad finds. ha-----Del

Hey GR...

After soaking it in the olive oil what else did you do to it to get it that clean?

n/t

Just rub it between my thumb and finger and perhaps a little toothbrush action. You have to go slow though as not to remove to much. Thanks for looking.GR

Bryce. I found one of this type of coin when I was in elementary school 3rd 4rth grade maybe. It was found in a sand bank on the playground.I gave it to my dad. The thought was at the time that it was a Roman coin that someone had brought to school and lost.My dad took it and I never saw it again. I forgot about it until one day I saw it in a coin book. It was an instant flashback. The coin I found was found in white sand and had a nice nut brown finish. So this coin is a special find for me as crusty as it is.GR
