Upgrade for the t2 is available once more thru March 31st

Must admit its a very tempting offer, but will have to do some more homework on the actual benefits, mine is one of the original green machines and i am thinking if it aint broke dont fix it.Mine has found me many lovely finds over the years including Celtic gold coins going back to 55BC,what a dilema do i or dont i,gut feeling tells me 'NO' as i fully understand what my machines is telling me.

Mega, I think you summed it up well.

I have several detectors and enjoy them each, knowing what they can do ... differently ... from other models. I had two of the earlier green T2's and the only thing it didn't have, or that I lacked, was the small 5" DD coil. It wasn't any super restructuring and programming to make it different that I needed or wanted. I now have the 'Classic' T2 and this time WITH the 5" DD coil, and the performance is both proven as well as enjoyable/satisfying. No need to change that as then it wouldn't be what it already is.

No dilemma for me as it is an easy 'don't need it' decision.

There's the key, with any make or model. To understand them and what they are telling us. No need to change their language.

i was thinking about it ,but i don't think the cost of upgrade plus fedex postage warrants it ..i find goodies with mine already

I have the t2se, which I've been using the past 4 or 5 years with great success. Like it so much I wanted another one as backup just in case I had a problem with one or the other and had to send it in I wouldn't be without a t2. So since the new upgraded model was available I decided to buy one. At least it was a t2. And that's what I got, another t2 with way less emi issues and a few more goodies to boot. The machine not only has the 2+ mode but it has 2a, 2b,and 2c. Being able to set sensitivity way up (99 in most cases), 0 discrimination and lowering or eliminating the iron tone without discing it out is a killer. Bp mode and cl mode is the the same as before but with the ability to run higher sens and much lower disc without chatter. But I agree 100% with you guys about not wanting to fix something that isn't broke. I would not have sent my t2se in for an upgrade either and I didn't. I just ended up getting a new upgraded one. So now I'm in the same boat. I'm not sure whether to send my old t2se in for an upgrade or not cause it ain't broke and I like it the way it is. But at the same time I know they're not fixing it they're just enhancing what's already there. If the Tek boys had just taken the T2 dst/enhancement , put in it new package, say digital lime green camo and called it the TEK HYBRID it probably would have its on spot on this forum. :heh:

Sneaky if you ask me.
Offer the Classic T2, at low ball price to kill the China clone sales and generate lots of sales. Then offer to upgrade for extra bucks to the enhanced T2. They got you twice in the pocket book.

:rolleyes:Well, they are in business to make money.Regardless of sneaky antics or not, $499 is still a great price for a detector with its capabilities.

Different strokes for different folks.

If you want an upgrade, it's available, if you don't - .......

I doubt the folks at FT in El Paso are trying to "pull the wool" over anybody's eyes with this.

Sven, do you detect with a t2 or just a competitor?

Yes it can be upgraded i saw on there web site you can buy one upgraded for $799.00

Used an older version T2, great machine with a NEL Sharpshooter coil. And owned many other Teknetics machines.
I currently use a GoldBug Pro with the 5x10 coil as a ID machine. It works great finding Canadian clad, better than the T2.

Coenwolf, shipping via FedEx is included both ways in any of the upgrade packages according to what I read on their website.

What we are saying is i guess as we mainly hunt in open farmland enviroment and well away from EMI issues,do we really need the DST and the other extra and for me the answer is still 'NO',if i want to go hunting for deep coins or artifacts then i simply just put on a slightly larger coil and that is the flrcibility of using a T2,well for me it is.

Its a good move if you are detecting in a high EMI location like tots lots or built up areas but most of our detecting in the UK is on farmland and only problem is when going under powerlines, but that is only for a short time duration anyway.

... to include close to power line sources in the big urban environments, or hunting close to some industrial sources, or working in tot-lots, etc., I just have not had the EMI issues with my new 'Classic' T2 that I had with the two earlier green T2's I used to own, hunting the same and similar sites.

Yes, I might have to reduce the Sensitivity level a little, but I can still often operate in the '85' to '90+' range with a calm, stable detector in most of those locations. I just enjoy the T2 'as-is' and without the "upgraded" changes.
