Ok,you have an old map that shows an old school site you want to find.
The map shows Township 50 North,Range 9 West. The school is in the bottom right corner of section 2.
so how do we find that spot on Google earth?
we now go to Earth point at this link http://www.earthpoint.us/Townships.aspx
click the little box towards the top that says (View on Google Earth)
a tiny file will download to the bottom of your screen.
click it,it will open in google earth showing grid lines for Township,Range section.
rest your mouse pointer on the dots,Orange will show Township and Range, purple will show section.
after a bit a box will pop up saying something about a subscription, just close it until it quits working. Then delete it in your my places section on google earth and download it again.
Just scroll on google Earth until you find the right Township,Range and section, and the bottom of section where the school is or was.
Enjoy,
LabradorBob
