V3 upgrade.

I read a post on a differant forum that you can upgrade the V3 to the V3i.Just wondering if anyone has done this and what the cost would be?

This is old news so I would call White's service and see if anything has changed:

Customers who purchased a V3 after November 1, 2009 will be able to return their detector to a V3 Upgrade
Center for a free upgrade. Shipping is $25. Customers who purchased a V3 before November 1, 2009 can
upgrade at a cost of $99.95 (plus $25 shipping).
 
This upgrade you speak of turns the V3 into a V3i? Allowing all the same functions as the V3i.I only ask this beacause I am getting a V3 and want to upgrade to a V3i-from what i understand they can install the V3i programming into a V3 so it functions as the V3i.Then i dont have to sell my machine when I want to upgrade.
If I have to pay a hundred bucks thats just fine.

Yes, the upgrade is the V3i software and replace the display pod as well. If you send in your coil, they will check it out and replace it if it is not up to their standards.
 
sounds great.Hope to get my detector soon.Im not in a hurry to upgrade-but will when winter comes.Thanks for all the help!

I recommend the upgrade. It it definitely and improvement. Especially the Coil Selection feature and the Polar Plot!
 
I have one of the early runs Vision Spectra. I had sent it in last year for all the upgrades. I had sent in the coils and wireless headphones along. They added a sticker/label on it - "Embedded 1 Software" stuck on the side of the detector main box. I'd have to dig up the headphones, but there was masking tape on it with something they (Whites) wrote - don't recall what it was. Probably passing their checks and was sent back as being okay.
Sad thing is, I haven't used it since... Maybe this fall/winter I'll dust it off for a run along with some others collecting dust.
 
Cant wait to get the V3,Tab-Nabit get out and use that BAD BOY! I Know i would be,well maybe not been real busy also,but going for a hunt all-day tommarro.
