v3i lost password

Yeah I'm in the same situation, but something I live with , but I love the machine and have alot of confidence in it , to bad whites closed . HHHank

Call Garrett and see if they might have a Solution. They bought out Whites and own
all info. and Stock of the old Whites Detectors...
Garret can not help and whites service center in Virginia talk to both they don’t have any information on v3i password they kept it and did not send it to Garrett only way to get it done is find a way to hoop up to a computer then it might work or find someone hacked into the detector

A person might try 4 zeros. In some automotive electronics, that is a back door to access. You might try the serial number too. Worth a try.

But that would be a weak theft protection. That's what this feature was intended for.
Best regards.

I'm very interested if find Any solution.
I purchased a very nice one used last year.
Be ecstatic to be able to put my name in it for my grandson to inherit.

At this point, I think it's best to send a private message to Carl-NC. He (Carl Moreland) was a senior engineer at White's when the V3(i)/VX3 and other detectors were being developed.
And if I remember correctly (and I do😉), I read a post from him where he mentioned that hardware and software were lost during the sale of White's. But I can't remember where I read that.🙄
All The Best & Good Luck🍀

Thanks Vito.
If you have his email please post it.

If you don't have the password that's it, you'll never get in it. I called everyone know to man about that, Centerville,Garrett, whites former employees,etc..i went though all that last year

Man that really sucks - hope you get it figured out.
I never did set a password/name. I don't use it often enough and would most likely forget it.

For buying or selling I've never had a problem selling any of the v3i units I had that were registered without a password. Don't affect anything as far as running the machine, you just see the name it's registered in at startup,as soon as you pull the trigger it's gone..I've never gotten any less or more for a v3i that was registered with a lost password than I did for a unregistered one with the password if that helps

You are absolutely right Woodbutcher. All a person is just changing is from one name ( previous owner) to another. Master Reset function is to clear all previous saved (altered/customized) owner's (yours or others) hunt programs back to factory default hunt programs... Not the personalization of the detector.

The unique 4-digit password function (that you created) is to give the "NEW" Owner the capability to input his or hers: name, address and ph. no. And give you a warm and fuzzy feeling that you a proud owner of Whites Spectra V3i... That's All!

Some people like to personalize and some people who don't care who's name(s) is on their Spectra V3i.

Hope this clears a cloudy issue. Happy hunting, TC-NM
