Well the E Trac passed the acid test

Some years ago a friend and I discovered this 50' X 50' piece of ground in a city park . We started finding coins and jewelery but nothing read correct on the meter but never the less we pulled hundreds of coins out of this small piece of real estate. Later we found out that the adjacent piece of ground used to be a swimming pool that has been since filled in and used for other purposes. It seems that everyone spread their towels etc on the ground and enjoyed the day.Well the ground is iron and junk cluttered to the max.We finally could not pull any coin targets out of the ground no matter what machine we used . All major brands and models have been used including minelab SE and Exp 2 .
Well today the E Trac got a shot.I used the stock pro coil , with some reservations at first , and ran the factory coin program in auto +3. I pulled out 2 1941 wheat's , 1 1942 Canadian nickle , 1 small junk ring. I would like to add that I had a partner with me in fact 2 that used other machines and did not dig one coin target. I would have been amazed if I had only found 1 coin but I would have bet that there was no way I could have pulled out 3 coins, not after what I have seen used on this 50'X50' piece of ground.
I have owned about every machine out there at one time or another, including 2 Exp sv and 1 Exp 2 . The explorers aggravated me so that some did not stay in my possession more that a week . I must say though that the E Trac is a pleasure to use and it performs where others could not even dream of performing. My previous experience helped greatly in using the E Trac but it is not as complicated as you might think.................thanks for looking

It is the best of the best for old coins .Now if you will go back with a 5" or 6" coil I bet you will find some more,Ray.

I second that Ray! I bet he would get plenty more targets out of there with a smaller coil. I've been doing well with my new 6" coil on the E-Trac.

That is an excellent testimony to the capabilities of the E-Trac and you can't get any better comparison then that

Have been thinking about buying an EX but now having second thoughts. Did Art go with you guys? HH John

I've had the same experience with the E-TRAC. It will, no doubt, open up those "hunted out" sites.

Next week I am getting a V-3, I am very interested in not only comparing the two but useing them both for I am sure they both have their strengths. I have one site that is full of mower cut beer cans, canslaw. Due to it's odd shapes and sizes I dig a lot of it because all the easy targets are already dug.... and you never know... you know? I am hoping that I will be able to use the V-3 to better ID the type of metal. I know thre is a three carat diamond ring in the area that has never been found... of course I know who lost it too and if I find it I will get to return it to her.

I have no plan to sell my E-TRAC though... it is one amazing machine and frankly I have had no use for a small coil. I have an 8"FBS and a 6" Excellerator but there is no reason to use them in trash because the PRO coil's seperation is stellar. Mybe in tight places a small coil would be better but, IMO, that is the only place it would be better.

HH,

The Pro coil is exceptional in trash but I have a hand full of old coins in the last month alone that it was unable to seperate from extreme trash at a couple of location. The 8x6 SEF and 5" Sunray on the other hand was able to and that is why they are now in my possession.I think most experienced hunters of trashy sights will agree that a good small coil will produce some good targets after the pro coil has hit all it is able too,Ray.

The 6x8 SEF coil in high trash is unbeatable on the E-Trac . . . . . have tried the round Xcelerator coils and have friends that tried the Sun Ray coils and the SEF comes out on top virtually every time . . . . . to be honest, I hunt with it more than the stock coil recently based on the sites I have been going to . . . . the Pro coil clearly has an edge over the previous stock coils but in real high trash, the SEF is the "go-to" coil . . . . .

Andy

I have a 7.5" minelab coil , havn't bought the SEF 6X8 yet , and I will give it a go and see what pops out. It is just as well on the 6X8 SEF , I don't think there are a lot available anyway . The only concern is depth . I am somewhat puzzled. Usually when in extreme trash like we were hunting you don't get much depth but one of the wheat's was 8" and the nickle was about that. That pro coil is a peach. We'll see what happens on the next pass.......C

Since I got my 8x6 over a month ago, yesterday was the first time I've had the stock coil on the etrac, and that was because I was hunting in a spot that had been covered over by big rocks and thought the stock coil might give me a bit more depth. Andy says the 8x6 is good in trashy areas, and it is, and that's what I'm looking to hunt in parks and fairgrounds. Everything in the wide open areas is pretty much hunted out, and any ole detector will work in no or low trash areas. The etrac plus the 8x6 was made for trash, really opens them up. I had the 8" minelab coil, couldn't get all that great of depth with it, the auto sensitivity never ran higher than around 17 on it, and it was noisey. Sold the minelab coil for half of what I paid for it, got the 8x6 and don't regret it for a second! I wish they'd get on the stick and get enough of the 8x6 sef coils out for those that want them, so that everyone can see just how good it is. HH ken-ks

I'll have to wait a little... writing a check for a V-3, 4x6 coil, and WHPs this evening. Going to sell the SE and three coils to pay about 3/4 of that. Then I want an extra coil for my uniprobe and an extra set of phones. I don't want to push the wife too hard... laff.

Thanks for the input. I have two sites that have really trashy spots and i'll try it there when I get it.
