I did not hunt for most of June / July / August last year... the heat and crazyness at work left me little time or desire... but I plan to hunt all year.... early in the day on the weekends to avaiod the heat...

My 2010 goals are:

a. To continue learning
b. To be a more effective hunter
c. To enjoy myself

If I accomplish these goals, I will find plenty and have a great time. :detecting:

a. to HAVE FUN
b. to continue learning
c. to be a more effective hunter
d. to use "Heavy D"s E-Trac much more often.
e. to avoid his phone calls if need be...so I don't have to give it back yet:cool:

To have fun:
To Learn:
To adapt to Different detecting environments:
To find MORE Silver:
To find more than Ray-Mo once while were hunting together LOL
To Research and find more hunting spots.

To have fun!
to learn more about detecting
and yes to have some great finds. A Barber coin or even older would be sweet! (1892 IH is my oldest so far)

Nice replies... I had specific goals and everyone else just wants to have a good time :) Hey if I"m tectin I'm having a great time :)

Keep em coming!

My 16 year old daughter has a little streak of tom boy in her and has asked me to take her detecting a couple times at an old ghost town that is within reasonable driving distance. We've had fun on our outings. She doesn't seem to mind bad weather or sparce finds, but I need to get her finding some coins and relics on a regular basis to keep that interest up. It is fun having a detecting buddy.

FILLING IN EMPTY SPOTS:

I am still looking for that first Barber Half - I have a bunch of Walkers, some Franklins and even a 60/40 Kennedy, but the Barber Half has eluded me.

I still need a 1922 plain wheatie to fill out my wheat cents.

I found a beautiful 1881-S $10 gold piece while on a club hunt screening with a friend through a burn area in an old ghost town. I'd like to find a gold coin with my detector.

I would like to find some pre-1800's coin. Will need to do a road trip back east for a legitimate shot at that one.

Still looking for that first coin cache.

I''ve decided to pick up an E-trac for this coming year. I had been using an Explorer XS since 2000 and sold it last fall. I've tried a few other detectors since then but haven't found that just right detector. Perhaps I've become too used to the Explorers. Not a bad thing. The upside is that my daughter now has a very nice CZ-5 to use when she wants to go and I have an excellent backup for the E-trac.

Good luck out there to everybody in meeting those goals you set for the upcoming year.

Great post! I never really thought about my goals but here are a few off the top of my head...

1. To represent the hobby honestly and leave sites "undetected" where I have detected.
2. To "master" my E-Trac
3. Find an indian head penny
4. While doing the above three, to spend time MD'ing with the wife (yep, she's willing)
5. To become so stinkin' rich I can shame any and all other detectorists with my wealth!!!! Strictly joking of course...

My goals for this year are ...

I would like to have the time to hunt a lot of the sites that I found this winter - abandoned farm houses, old church sites, schools, parks, swim club beaches, etc.

Now that I'm starting to know my machine better - Find more old silver coins and gold jewelry !

But my number one goal for 2010 is to get to know every aspect of the E-Trac - so when I walk away from the site at the end of the day - I'll know that I gave it my best shot !

Good luck to everyone this season ! --- Mark

2010 goals are:

1. Master my E-trac
2. Find relics with E-trac (to prove to the relic hunters that a Minelab can hang with the T2 or F-75)
3. Have fun
4. Avoid snakes
5. More research = more sites = more finds

mine is to finally pp the exact spot of a pirate din iv been researching for 5 years.
i got it down to a 3 mile spot but not close enough yet.
then i will break into the 1700's which is the other goal. you should try that in texas.
