i am so sorry to hear of your plight was it supposed to be new or second hand surely if it was advertised on the site you must get back to the moderator of the site and get any adverts removed so at least no one else can get scammed i am in uk so dont know your prices out there that is why i ask if it was second hand when you say it does not work does it not turn on or what

That is not good at all!

Do you KNOW that tthe machine doesnt work or just maybe looks like it doesnt work?

Who was the seller?

hi there i cant get a pm to you today i have sent a pm to scott and asked him if he can help you sort it out it looks good in the photo and the machine is not old so if it was damaged in transit and he had it insured one of you should be able to put a claim in i am sure he will do the right thing and know how frustrating it is but i am sure it will get sorted somehow talk soon

I am sorry about your problem. If the person you bought it from is the original owner he or she could get the problem fixed under warranty if you can get in touch with them. The postal service will investigate if the machine was shipped through them. I hope your problem gets resolved soon.

Thank You for your response, the machine was purchased in ( 8/24/10 ) so it is NOT old.
i had a tec look at the machine an definitely does not work. he found a problem in the battery compartment // when you Put the battery in it won't power on, BUT if you push the battery in an out slowly then seat it it will power on BUT then it goes into over load. i don't know, Scott never registered the machine, and the warranty is non-transferable because the receipt is in HIS name. I'm bummed
SUGAR, I REALLY DO APPRECIATE YOUR QUICK AN REASSURING RESPONSE. Thanks again, i do appreciate it.

To answer your question NO it does not turn on. their is something wrong with the battery connection, if you wiggle the battery in an out then seat it it'll power on then got into over load then shut off. ????

THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONCERN

MAke sure the contacts are clean on the end of the battery, and that the coil is not near any large metal objects when turned on.
also, make sure the switch on the probe is flipped to coil.
after this remove the battery, and undo the coil cord connection, and the control box connection and look for bent
connectors.
Then reconnect both, and if you can get the detector to come on push and hold down the power button.
this should re set it to factory settings.
Not saying this will work, but worth a shot.

IF I KNEW THEN WHAT I NO NOW, IT WOULD'NT HAVE NEVER HAPPENED, THINGS YOU LEARN AFTER THE FACT ARE PRICELESS, LOL, NOT. Thanks for the, YOU PAID WHAT !!!! lol

sorry wasn't trying to be mean, but you can get new ones for $1299. I am sorry you got scammed. I would think you can at least get it repaired from minelab, they will charge you since warranties are not transferrable, but it is worth getting fixed.

I THANK EVERYONE for all your responses you are all very helpful and concerned good people and again i thank you all for your input.
To LabadorBob, i did try all those things, i had a tec look at it an he said it needs to go back to MINE LAB

trying to get you some answers from a detectorist in uk who had simalar symptoms with his second hand etrac also make sure you dont turn it on in your house only outside or you will get overload hang on there matey people will try and get you some answers two things can be happening here either one the guy knew he had a problem and should in this case get it fixed under his warrenty and you wont hear from him or the guy is genuine and didnt know of the problem and could be away for the weekend and he needs time to sort the problem out if he comes back it can be sent to be mended lets hope that this will be the case we are all keeping our fingers crossed and i will let you know any information i get from this guy in the uk talk soon

ok you are not on your own with this problem from etrac if you have google in the states put in search { etrac overload turning off } and read with interest a few of the posts talk soon h

more info coming from a guy who had the same problem in the uk he says the previous owner had got the wiring wet and his advice was take out the battery and allow to dry indoors for a couple of days and make sure the terminals are not coroded and have a good contact any more info i get i will keep you informed please let me know if you learn anything yourself from scott or your etrac has a new lease of life it will shut down automatically if switched on inside from an overload keep positive

WOW, Thanks sugar, you sure know how to make someone feel better.
i did get it to work, i had a tec look at it, and the problem is in the battery, it's not getting a good contact, you have to gently push the battery in an out gently just a tiny bit till it makes a contact, if you play with it gently it turns on, an when it powers on it works ( I THINK ) lol. BUT you can't shut it down ???????? i don't know if its working properly. i did the master reset because the reading were all over the place. ( thats another story )
Any ways im going to call mine lab tomorrow an see what my options are.
Thank you for you concern, i deeply appreciate it.
