What's Going On With The G-2????

In a few days I can tell you how it performs. Because it's a Teknetics and has nicer colors it looks already deeeeep.

Andy

Yea Andy it looks deep ,only if it were water proof it would be the worlds best next detector.:lmfao:

If its like the Gold Bug it should be a good one.

I quote from July 2010 Western&Eastern magazine page 35 " Introducing the new TEKNETICS G2 the best multi-purpose unit ever made!" It's showdown time in detector land ladies and gentlemen. I'm putting my money on the G2. It don't need to be waterproof I've got one I can dive 200 ft. with so send them on out here so we can go out and play before it gets cold. HH

Hey Guy's New to the forum! Why are there manuals and ads out there and there is nothing on the Teknetics website about the G2? Strange! I want to get a lightweight detector to Relic hunt in fields. Stuck on Omega 8000 vs xterra 705. Have hunted for years with Whites machines but they are pretty heavy to swing all day. Not sure about the G2.

Just go on the Fisher website and type in Gold Bug SE, and then you'll have all the info you need for the G2.

Kellyco has an ad today saying they have G2s in stock. I called them and was told they have 20 in stock so I placed an order for one. About 10 minutes later I got a call that "all of them have to be sent back to the factory because something was wrong with them". I asked if they just jumped the gun on the release date and I was told no. I canceled the order. But the ad is still on their web site as I type.

were on pre order then they forgot to ship mine through a billing error then they were going to overnight it to me yesterday then today called and said the didnt have any but had 3 coming and said I would have mine next week...

Didnt not say anything about 20 being tore up

Starting to make sense now...I will cancel my order in the morning...

At least My GBSE is running right!!!

Keith

There were a few issues with the manual a tester caught and a slight cosmetic problem on a few of the first shipments.

The performance and operations of the G2 were not affected at all. The few dealers that were affected have been sent new units.

Hope this helps,

Mike

If this model is the G2, what does a G1 look like? :?

I read on another forum that when you turned it on it said "Gold Bug" like the GBSE.......Maybe that was the cosmetic problem? I wonder how different it really is......

Not very different at all-some differences are obvious like the physical ones.

There is one very good reason why virtually the same detector is released under Tek and Fisher brands.

Mike

I think the main difference is the GB is sold with a small coil, the G2 with an 11 inch DD. Then they have a G2 Pro package with extra coils. Then there is the Gold Bug SE or Special Edition. Arrghhh.

hi mike!
so please tell us WHAT is that reason?..why have "redundancy"
across the line?...marketing considerations?..profit margin considerations?

(h.h!)

I honestly think it is primarily market pricing strategy. The GB Pro and G2 pricing fit nicely between the Omega/F70 and T2/F75. Then the GB 2 is also in that pricing area. If the new model were to continue to sell around $500 and it is well received, I could see problems in selling the other models. I'm not judging here, but it does happen with "value perception" and FT is just doing what any company would do. It happens with cars, TV's, just about everything. It also sounds like FT got their production costs down on this new unit but still managed to turn out an excellent product. It does sound like someone missed some marketing meetings on how to sell the thing and management dropped the ball.

What might be of concern if that FT is producing identical products under two names with no significant difference. That typically spells doom for one or the other. GM fell into that trap when Olds and Pontiac lost their individuality over time and were just another GM product with a different logo.

Personally I'm taking my chances on a GB SE with an additional 7x11 coil for a bunch less on the bottom line. I just have to find one.

This has me scratching my head a little.
The F75/ T2 are similar but different.
The F5/ Omega like wise
I have no problem with this , different options are a good thing but why go through the
trouble for just a name change.

I do have to laugh when outsiders call all the FT machines just old Bounty hunters re wrapped.
Thy don't know what there missing.
