Which one to buy for E-trac X8 or 8x6 SEF coil?

I prefer the 8 x 6 SEF, better separation, with excellent depth!...although the X-8 is a super coil too and is in my arsenal as well! It also ID's steel bottlecaps correctly better in the field in the areas I hunt in my Ohio dirt!

Well I only own the 6x8 so I can only give my opinion on it. It is lightweight, has amazing separation, extreme depth for its size. I got mine for trashy areas, iron infested farm yards, corn fields etc.......

When I first got it, I tested it over my coin garden, it can positively ID my coins that i have buried at a measured 7.5 inches, with sensitivity around 20-22 area. It can detect them at
17-18 sens. But the numbers are way off, bump it up to about 20 and the numbers on right on. I have dug silver at up to 9" with this coil. I absolutely love it and consider it worth every penny.

Get the X 8. It turns the ETrac into a totally different machine ergonomic wise. The 6X8 is almost the same weigh as the Pro coil. I personally think with the ET you only need the Pro and the X 8. I've had all the Sunrays, several 6X8's, several 10X12's, one 15X12 just long enough to realize way overkill, ungodly heavy! Many Pro coils too. I'm back to what worked best for me. The X 8 with the ETracs seperation abilities will hunt in the trashiest places you can find. No need for anything smaller really.

Yep good coil, I need to let you borrow my X 8 for a couple of weeks. You'll drop the 6X8 like a hot biscuit per the X 8 being so light. Huge difference in the way the ETrac feels and handles with a feather on the end of the rod. No noticeable difference in finding stuff between the two for me.

hahaha Jack I got the 6x8 from YOU!!! You of all people KNOW how good it is!

The X-8 is an excellent coil and light weight. I have found some deep copper and silver with it. I have to admit I just purchased a used 6x8 but haven't been able to get out with it because of weather. The 6x8 does feel much heavier weight wise...John

Sun ray cois are much better quality than the sef coils.

I have never used the SEF but I can attest to the quality and usability of the Sunray Coils.

I also have the X-12 and have found deep coins over places that have been hunted to death. It is also super light weight for such a large diameter coil...

I have the x-8 and use it as much as the stock coil.. I asked the same question as you and was advised to go with the x-8. I also have the x-5. Great coils imho

can anybody do a video with comparing a deep signal? Because I find it hard to believe the x8 could go deeper. The 6x8 goes so deep now it amazes me.

Did not expect to get such a reponse on these two coil. I have been using the 6x8 coil and it does go deep. Found a small 14K pendent smaller then a dime at 5", came in at 12-1 on the Etrac. I have a used X8 on the way thats why i asked the question.

in my basement, at a manual sens of 23, the NEL was dead quiet with a repeatable nice signal at 10-10.25 inches, the X-8 was 10.5 inches with alot of EMI interference, the 8 x 6 was 10 inches with alot of EMI too but slightly less than the X-8 on a 1980-D copper memorial penny so you can draw your own conclusions...I can also test them with a clad dime per say next to a old square nail and evaluate the separation between the 3; I can also do this on my E-Trac when I get a chance...

I too have the X-12 and the first signal I got with it was at 8" depth Large Cent on edge! I can not tell any difference in weight between it and the Pro Coil. Now I use the Pro Coil most of the time and then next the X-8 and use the X-12 for fields that do not have many signals and that way I can cover more ground.

I get a nice repeatable signal and stable ID with NO EMI; also no falsing on a small or very large old square nail at any distance from the coil...wee doggies! :)
