Well after 2 weeks of near record low temps in the minus 5-10 range it got up to almost 50 today and the snow is melting fast.I took a probe out yesterday to a grassy field and was able to push it through the snow and into the soil in many places with a few frozen crusty spots as well.If all goes well I may be able to do a little hunting in a couple more days before the next arctic blast hits,Ray.

My neighbor told me I could detect her yard, so I tried it this afternoon. Got a few good coin hits but the ground was hard as a rock still frozen, needed a pick axe. I didn't even dig a target just turned the machine off and walked back across the street and back in the house.

Ray I am south of you quite a bit, Down in Stoddard County. We only had about an inch or two of snow here and its basically gone except the shaded areas. I was surprised when I tried to dig a couple different targets and the ground was hard as rock

:clapping:I can't wait either. Just pushed my digger into my front yard a few minutes ago and it went in easily!! Looks like I will be trying out the new E-trac next week when I am off.:clapping:

Suppose to get up to 44 today surely it will be thawed out today, It was around that yesterday thats why I was surprised. We did have several nights in the single digits though. I am getting cabin fever ready for some warm sunny days.

Yes I was spoiled last winter as the ground never froze up around here except for a crust in the shady areas without any grass,Ray.

I work in excavating in southern NY and we have about a foot to foot and a half of frost. We had single digit temps early on with nearly no insulating snow. Got to forty today but will see how long that lasts. I hate winter:thumbdown:

If you are using the SE I sold you I can explain your silver problems......

I opened the unit and set the silver and indian chip to low and cranked up the nickel chip so you could get the feeper :pulltab: just before I delivered it.After all you are less than 100 miles away and might find one of my hot spots poke::rofl:
