your opinion about these program settings?

What do you think about these two programms:
Both iron mask at 25.

Would you chnage something :

Program A:

Sensivity : = Auto (auto level +3 )

audio
Threshold level: = 20
volume limit: = 26
volume gain: = 30
respons: = Smooth
threshold pitch: = 15
Tone ID
no. of tones: = Multi
sounds: = Conduct
variability: = 25
limits: = 30

Expert
recovery deep: = On
recovery fast: = On
trash density: = High
ground: = Difficult
noise cancel:

preference
contrast: = 15
pinpoint: = Normal
show sensitivity: = On
show mode info: = off
display time out: =off

Program B:

Sensivity : 19
audio
Threshold level: 17
volume limit: 30-afhankelijk van je gehoor
volume gain:27
respons:smooth
threshold pitch: 17
Tone ID
no. of tones: 4 multi
sounds:conduct
variability:24
limits:25

Expert
recovery deep: on
recovery fast: off
trash density: high
ground: difficult
noise cancel: 1

preference
contrast: 20
pinpoint: normaal
show sensitivity: on
show mode info: on
display time out:eek:n

I do not want to mis deeptargets and coins /jewelry.

I would say most people hunt with recovery deep off and recovery fast on. Also most don't seem to like smooth even though its probably the best choice.. Also auto plus 3 may be high depending what #;s your getting....could cause falsing. New thread on here why most people leave recovery deep off.

Lots of variables in here. Where are you from? Ground minerals? What type of hunting do you intend to do? What is the reason for 2 different programs?

I will tell what i think, just my opinion.

Program A

Sensitivity- Very seldom do i run in Auto,Especially for deep targets,I test sometimes in Auto to see what the ground is
Mineralization etc,If it won't run above about 20-21 in Auto i go to Manual to get more,or the most depth i can get!

Threshold level-This is factory set at 30,but could be lower if you have extremely good hearing,This little hum can give you info as to how much trash is in the ground.

Volume Limit- I have this set at 30,sometimes deep targets will respond fainter and i want all the help i can get to be able to hear them.

Volume gain- 30 for me also, this will make all targets of different depth respond alike,or is supposed to.
I notice very deep targets respond a little weaker!

Threshold pitch- I am fine with the factory preset of 15,i like a big variation between the threshold and pennies dimes quarters!

Response- I like normal, I feel it separates the signal-s better, To pick coins from trash.

Tone ID
No. of tones= Multi
Sounds= Conductive
Variability - I like 30,i want as big a change between tones as i can get!
Limits 30 to get as many tones as i can.
GAIN30 to hear the very deep targets loud as possible.

Expert
Deep off
Fast off I feel i do not need deep or fast on,with gain at 30,and i feel i get better target responses with them off.
Trash density Low I seemed to notice with it on High,if you are sweeping VERY slow it did not respond.
Ground-Difficult
The rest of mine are the same as yours.
I have my iron mask at 28.

I use this prog.
And one for ferrous
and the Minelab coins mode.

Hi,

I am from holland.
Still a newbie for the etrac.
Mostly i search on farmland, looking for coins / jewelry
I have got these programs from persons who has the etrac for years.

Hey Vatos,

This is my second year with the E and I have learned so much from the folks on this site that I feel so confident in what the E is telling me. There is a learning curve to this compared to the V-#i but is 10x easier to use.The more I learn the better this machine gets.
Lab Bob and others are great people to take hints from and will definately make you feel more confident in your next hunt.

Thx 4 post,
Moose

Hello Vatos from Holland
A wonderful country with nice and happy people
Welcome to the forum
As you see it is warm and welcoming here

Regards and HH

Absolutely true its warm and welcome here.
Ty for the answers so far.
I know its a learning curve for me absolutely true.
What i want to avoid is that with my first detector i had for six years (DFX).
It was in the last year that i understand the detector, and get the most /best out of it.

That was to late , so i want to learn this detector more faster.

Cheers

Program A:

Sensivity : = Auto (auto level +3 ) (see what auto is set at in auto 3+ go to manual and raise two or three numbers. Example: auto 3+ reading is 19 go to manual and set at 22).[/color]

audio
Threshold level: = 20 Set so you can bartely hear it and then raise 1 or 2 numbers)
volume limit: = 26 (if you have a good set of headphones that have volume controls set to 30. If you just have the stock headphones upgrade to blackwidows or sunrays)
volume gain: = 30 (I think you're too high. If your auto sensitivity reads in the high 20's then maybe a maxed out gain will be fine. Think you would be better off at 26 or 27 and you won't miss a thing)
respons: = Smooth ( if you're use to smooth and it works for you so be it. I like normal)
threshold pitch: = 15 (everyone hearing is different. Get a target you like to find (I use a silver quarter) and test different settings until you like the tone.)
Tone ID
no. of tones: = Multi (agree with you here but if you're detecting fields I'd be almost in all metal.)
sounds: = Conduct (I use conduct in parks but feel that you should be using ferrous and detecting with zero or almost zero discrimination and digging everything that doesn't grunt iron)
variability: = 25 (I'd leave at 30)
limits: = 30 (good

Expert
recovery deep: = On (on farm fields I'd leave this off unless the field is loaded with iron and you're getting iron hits one after the other)
recovery fast: = On (Off same as above)
trash density: = High (lots of trash or high mineralization use high. Little trash and less mineralization have low. Mine is on high all the time
ground: = Difficult (i'd go with Andy's S recommendations: If auto sensitivity is reading above 22 leave at low. If auto sensitivity is reading lower than 22 set to high) not active in all meta)
noise cancel: (every hour unless I'm finding good targets and then I don't mess with it because I'm supperstitous :detecting: )

preference
contrast: = 15
pinpoint: = Normal
show sensitivity: = On
show mode info: = off
display time out: =off

I've had the e-trac since it came out. I detect mostly parks and beaches. Been to Colchester England twice for some hardcore detecting on some huge fields (haven't used my E-Trac there yet. Had my Explorer SE when I went. I detect about 3 days a weeks and average about 7 hours each time out.

Give my recommendations a try. Won't hurt to try. Biggest mistake people make while detecting is not the settings it their detecting technique. Keep the coil flat to the ground, move slowly, overlap your swings, and grid search. If you do this even in the factory setting you'll go home with more good finds in your pouch. HH Randy

I only can say ty very much for your meaning and comment.
I really give it a try.
Thanks again.

You know what i am going to do.... I have been holding off as i had so much iron in my back yard but i am cleaning out an area and finaly going to plant a test garden ....not only with just coins but coins and then junk next to them at diff depths and see how each setting affects it. It going to be a long process but i am going to record my results and hopefully post them on here when i am done about 3 years from now lol
