Bonehead mistakes...........

I live 32 miles from the beach. Arrived one morning before daylight. Got my gear READY to hit the beach. My Xcal would not turn on. It took me a few minutes to realize that there was no batter on the machine. No battery in the car. So 32 miles back to the house to get my batteries and then the same 32 miles back to the beach.

Another day when i got my gear out of the trunk of my car i laid the keys down along with my cell phone to get something. Closed the trunk and realized i was locked out. Thankfully a gentleman let me use his cell phone to call my wife to come rescue. The best laid plans of mice and men.
That's why I always keep a "Hide a Key" on all my vehicles.

Took the 600 next door and cranked her up, got my first signal and realized my digging tool was home. I remember once years ago I was 10 miles away when I discovered my digging tool of choice was at home. Anyone want to make me feel better and list some of their mistake they have made.
I have enjoyed Plowboy post "Bonehead Mistakes" so much. I've laughed so much. I can't wait to read more. Let's all give him a big round of Applause. 👋👋

You guys aren't messing with me are you, never said I was the sharpest knife in the drawer. I have to think things through at my age, for instance would you guys know why my wife elbows me and gets up and runs into the bedroom, closes the door and has a good cry when that "My Pillow" commercial comes on. You know the part where the guy talks about the mattress topper is "3 inches of wonderful". I can't figure it out, I told her I'd get her a pillow if she wanted one and she just runs back into the bedroom and starts crying again. Go figure!

Tough crowd..................

One time I was detecting a pasture with my brother it had herd of maybe 50 horses. There was an old filled in well with
the rock wall still intact so we set our extra gear inside and off we go :twodetecting: At one point I looked back and those horses
had scattered all of our stuff to the four winds!! Nothing was damaged. I told my brother that horses are like giant cats(curious).
We had a good laugh out of it but you have to be careful they get to biting each other on the butt then kicking and going crazy!!

Starting out I was getting good targets but they disapeared when I tried to pinpoint or dig. Finally figured out I was detecting my boat shoe eyelets :( Not as bad as this tho:

One of my 1st times surf hunting while on vacation I had one of those trackphones so the wife could contact me if needed..well an hour or two later I get this killer loud signal,I mean screaming loud so much that it’s tickling my ear in a bad way..I stopped swinging the coil but the signal wouldn’t stop..I thought OMG there must be a bad short I my wires causing this horrible ear rattling signal...I ran out of water and threw the headphones off my head into the sand as fast as I could .. It was then I realized I had attached my cell phone to the headband on my headphones in hopes of keeping it dry and left the ring tone and vibrate on ..It was just my wife calling...Boy did I feel stupid..I was able to laugh about it once my heart stopped racing..

Drove completely home from a hunt once with the tailgate down and all my detectors and pouch hanging slightly out of the bed and on the gate. Miraculously, none fell into traffic. 🙄
