    Hillsborough Military Academy Button

The back is solid and intact but not as nice as the front, with close inspection can see Schuyler H&G N. York backmark.....

    Hillsborough Military Academy Button

It is a very nice button, I'm really happy with the way it cleaned up. I learned a long time ago that a nice valuable dug button can easily be de-valued really quick by improper cleaning. There's lots of methods that I have heard of people using, some simple and some not so simple. I'm no...

    Hillsborough Military Academy Button

Me and my nephew went to an old Confederate camp a couple days ago and he dug this HMA button. He was afraid to try and clean it as it didn't look too good when he dug it, but, years ago, I came up with a method for cleaning buttons that has worked really well for me. I cleaned the button for...

    Carved on US buckle

Went digging on Saturday to an old Confederate camp and dug this US buckle. It appears a soldier carved on it and made the U into a J......I first thought it was just deteriorated but the ground it came from is really good to relics and I can see marks on it where it has been carved with some...

Four relic hunts with my Equinox 800

Thanks......I try to lay low while deer season is in...lol I've got one old campsite in particular that I know there are relics there that the other machines can't reach but I'm not going to risk it until the season ends.....:)

Four relic hunts with my Equinox 800

Thanks ......Over the years I have always bought the latest and greatest detectors when they come out, like others do in this hobby and most of them would have marginal improvements but this Equinox in my experience is a few leaps beyond anything else I have used....I'm honestly impressed with...

Four relic hunts with my Equinox 800

Thanks very much......I'm no detector expert but due to my passion for relic hunting I realized years ago the benefits of having a test garden of the objects I'm looking for. It has really been useful for setting up new detectors...:)

Four relic hunts with my Equinox 800

I've had my Equinox 800 for one month and have relic hunted with it four times since getting it. I had one hunt for about 8 hrs. and three hunts about four hours each...I'm limited right now on being able to relic hunt due to deer hunting season being in full swing here as most of my old camps...

    Another Equinox Counter weight

Thanks very much.....I have a small shop here at my home, I have two metal lathes and two milling machines etc...After getting out of the archery stuff, I got into shooting .22 rimfire bench rest rifle competitions and that lead me into building custom .22 bench rest rifles...I was building...

    Another Equinox Counter weight

Thanks for the replies....I used to make and sell carbon fiber target archery stabilizers for indoor target shooting...that's where I came up with the idea for the adjustable weights. I have thought about replacing the factory rods with carbon fiber but the weight of the rods is not the problem...

    Another Equinox Counter weight

I machined a threaded insert for the shaft and machined a couple threaded inserts for a length of carbon fiber for an extension. I machined a weight out of solid aluminum round bar and bored out the inside to add weight and machined a threaded cap for the end of the weight and powder coated it...

I'm really looking forward to the CTX 3030....

I can't wait to see what this new machine will do. I hope it's all that.... along with a bag of chips....:) I've been relic hunting now for over 30 years here in Virginia in some of the most mineralized ground found anywhere and I have used just about every type of detector made. If this...
