    Old pin

Last night I took a few minutes to use the Compadre in the yard next door to ours. This small pin (little larger than a quarter) was a hard momentary hit for the machine. It was buried almost 6 inches down in sandy root laden soil. Not sure what it is, looks like there might have been a stone...

    Relaxing with the Compadre

Turn it on and go, just darn simple. Once again a brief hard hit in the yard comes up with a cool little item. This tiny brass key shown with a penny for size comparison was a momentary sound out by the Compadre. It was almost 6 inches down along with a few rusted nails yet the unit targeted...

    Compadre did well today

I took about 30 minutes before dark to continue my revisiting the Compadre. Got a very hard hit in the backyard. Of course it was an area I've been over many times. It was one of those hits that is very short but intense and repeating on the wiggle. About 5 inches down this musket ball...

    Revisiting the Compadre

Started taking the Compadre back to the field. I had forgotten just how simple it was to use. Since recommending one to a friend I figured it would be good to get some time in with mine again. Wow, it's just so darn easy for a grab and go hunt. Even without headphones it's a ball to use and...

    Hopefully this is still Tersoro

With work and travel I've been off the forum for awhile. Now I see there is no Tersoro portion? Have we fallen from grace? Anyway managed a bit of detecting in the unusual warm weather in PA at our daughters place. She and her hubby have a 5 acre section with a house from the 1750s...

    Vaquero scores:twodetecting:

I had a few minutes after a day on the phone and computer to run around the yard across the street. All the main homes in the neighborhood are mid to late 1800s. Some of the sites have been picked over some not at all. I took about 20 minutes and managed a couple of early memorials and a few...

    Gold ring?

The Vaquero found this yesterday in one of the yards I hunt. Another 1800s era home this time across the street from us. It was completed crusted when I dig it up initially thinking it was a cut of piece of copper pipe. Used my wife's mild jewelry cleaner on it and found this under the...

    History being lost?

I find coins like this quite a bit. An almost completely corroded zinc US penny. Got to wonder if history is being lost to less expensive coins designed to fade away. The date on this one appeared to be 1988.

    Older Indian Head

Running the Vaquero the same way as I have lately, high discrimination, high sensitivity, and the small 5.75 concentric hit the house across the street. This is a new search area for us just in the last four months or so. The new owner wanted us to check it out since we already search a couple...

Significant find in one yard - no great value in dollars

I found these two tokens a couple of feet apart just a few days ago. Decided to spend some time working the yards I have been with different settings and a different goal. I wanted to get deeper and past the clutter of iron that marks these sites. If any of my detectors are set for all metal...

    Cap & Ball round

Found this in the back yard of the house behind us. Buried about 6 inches down it responded to the Vaquero and 5.75 inch concentric coil this afternoon. Looks to be about .44 caliber and with the great amount of Civil War activity in the neighborhood likely a dropped cap & ball round.

Vaquero 5.75 finds an old lead toy

Not sure what era this lead soldier comes from. It's well worn and was certainly stepped on in the distant past. Down below 7 inches the signal was strong so I needed to be dug. This is the second lead soldier I've found in about a 10 foot area. I'm sure so additional careful searching with...

France this time? Same southern yard

Found this coin today early right around sun up. Again the Vaquero with the small 5.75 concentric in areas I've gone over before. This small coil allows to me to pick around the trash and get close to a chain link fence. As with some of the other coins you have to wonder who carried here.

Parking token found in a southern backyard?

I know this was not used in our little southern town. Must have come in with a traveler from somewhere else and years ago too. Nice patina on it and in fairly nice shape. Size wise it's hair larger than a US quarter. Found it using the small 5.75 inch concentric on the Vaquero I picked up a...

    Sterling Spoon pin

Once again the 5.75 on the Vaquero in an area I've pounded with larger coils. A tiny sterling silver spoon pin in very good shape.
